Yesterday’s Snowfall Shatters Previous Record
Prince George, BC – The snowstorm that moved through Prince George and across the Central Interior did bring with it a record amount of snow…
While you will have probably measured greater amounts on your backdeck, Environment Canada recorded 17.4mm of precipitation at its measuring station, which is the equivalent of more than 17-centimetres of snow. That amount completely blankets the previous record of 9.8mm of precipitation for November 15th, set back in 2009.
While we'll have a brief reprieve today, it will be colder with a high of minus 6 degrees today. The overnight low will drop to minus 10. Environment Canada is calling for more white stuff in the forecast tomorrow and, again, a high of minus 6.
A colder week is on the way, both Monday and Tuesday will offer up a mix of sun and cloud, but a high of just minus 10.

I think you might have meant 174 mm not 17.4.
17.4 mm = 1.74 cm or 0.0174 m
or about 5/8″
maybe ENV Canada melts the Snow and takes a Reading how much Water it contains ?
Good morning outwest…..You are exactly correct… just like the article says in paragraph 2….

” 17.4mm of precipitation at its measuring station, which is the equivalent of more than 17-centimetres of snow. “

17.4 mm of rain = 17.4 cm of snow. Obviously mearsured in melted form.
Smithers snowfall = TRACE :P
Global warming at its finest !
Yep the warmers are quiet.
Not at all, we will have our say when it rains next week ;-)
Speaking of global warming, extreme weather events continue to occur. Imagine a “super” typhoon with record breaking sustained winds of 314 kms per hour. Get use to these extreme weather events people.
When it snows it’s called a storm. When it rains it’s called……..rain?
When it rains in the winter it called… global warming!
It was not a white Holloween …. so, we have our global warming … ;-)
Of course, only the bowl is warming up …. the Hart stays frigid as it always has been …..
There will come a time when winter will not come, that day is a bit far off but I can make the following bold prediction:
Within the next 10 years the winters here will become so mild that the larger lakes in the area (Stuart, Francois, Babine, Williston) will stop freezing over. In other words, what is happening in the Arctic will start happening here.
“When it rains in the winter it called… global warming!” Sarcasm People#1?
Actually extreme events have been declining but as the cooling trend gets underway they will return. You have to recognise media hype. So just what do you think of Gore’s Fortune?
