NH Seeks Seniors’ Input on Wellness

Sunday, November 17, 2013 @ 4:53 AM

Prince George, BC – As part of a series of consultations with residents in communities across the region, Northern Health is hosting two final public forums next week…

The theme of the meetings is 'Let's Talk about Healthy Aging and Seniors' Wellness' and the public process began at the end of September and will wrap up in Quesnel on Wednesday.  This is the fifth time since 2004 that Northern Health has carried out a public consultation.  The information gathered will help to guide NH's Board of Directors and senior staff in planning and decision-making.

Board Chair, Dr. Charles Jago, says, "Healthy aging and seniors' wellness is a shared community concern and we want to ensure people have a voice in how we address it."  Dr. Jago says the goals of the consultations have been to listen, record, and report on the experience of people in the region with wellness and aging; to look at perspectives on healthy aging at home and across the continuum of care, from assisted living to complex care; and to identify any existing or emerging opportunities that require a strategic approach by Northern Health.

A consultation is set for Monday at 2pm in Valemount at the Best Western hotel.  The final sesssion will be held in Quesnel on Wednesday at 2pm at the Senior Centre on Carson Avenue.

For those who have not been able to attend a consultation in person, comments can be emailed to consultations@northernhealth.ca
