Prince George, BC – There is no doubt it will be a frostier reception for city residents planning to head out for a hike this morning, when compared to the mild temperatures we've so far been experiencing.

With the current temperature sitting at minus 17, today's forecast high is set to rise to minus 6 – not bone-chilling, but a tad colder than we're used to in what has been an amazing fall.

The little snow family, complete with dog, captured at right will be covered with a new layer of snow today – up to 5cm – but that should help keep them cozy for a cold week ahead.  Tomorrow's high is pegged at minus 11 and Tuesday will be the coldest day of the week at minus 16.

The mercury is set to rise back up to a high of minus 4 by Saturday.  The normal temperatures for this time of year are highs near the freezing mark, with lows in the minus 6 range.
