RCMP Confirm One Death in Leland Road Fire

Prince George, B.C. – Prince George RCMP have now confirmed that one person was killed in the fire that destroyed a trailer on Leland Road Saturday night.
Just before 7:00 PM Saturday the North District RCMP 9-1-1 Centre received a report of a structure fire on Leland Road. Prince George Fire / Rescue, the BC Ambulance Service and the Prince George RCMP were all dispatched to the call.
Emergency services arrived and found a residence fully engulfed in flames. Information was obtained that a single adult female resided in the home and that she was seen approximately 30 minutes prior to the fire. Once Prince George Fire / Rescue gained control of the fire, human remains were located in the residence.
The RCMP Forensic Identification Section, the BC Coroners Service and fire investigators are currently on scene. At this time, there is no indication to suggest that foul play was involved.
The Prince George RCMP will continue to work with the BC Coroners Service throughout the day. Control of the investigation is expected to be handed over to the BC coroners Service later today.
