Fraser Lake Airport Upgrades On the Way
Fraser Lake, B.C. – The airport in Fraser Lake has landed a grant from the Northern Development Initiative Trust.
NDI Trust will provide a grant of $171,394 for security upgrades to the airport. The money represents about 70% of the cost of the upgrades which include new signage, security fencing and a mobile trailer that will be used as an office.
Right now, pilots are hesitant to leave their aircraft unattended at the airport because it lacks those security features.
Fraser Lake hopes the new security will increase the number of small plane flights to the 4,000 foot runway, as interest in resource development and tourism opportunities increase.
The Village of Fraser Lake will provide the remaining 30% of the funding needed to complete the upgrades. Long-term upgrades to the airport include the installation of a fuelling station and lighting for night flying.

Hopefully Fraser Lake will have a better track record on paying back the money to NDIT, than the PG Airport. Seems to me they borrowed $11 Million in 2007 and it appears they now owe $12 Million and will make interest only payments until 2015, and then (supposedly) pay off the loan in 120 monthly installments (10 years)
Not sure where they will get the money for the payments, unless we have a large number of planes coming here in the next 10/15 years.
The money will have to come from the “airport improvement fee”, because it doesn’t look like the money will come from landing fees or land leases.
At least the airport did not walk away from the payment responsibilities like that investment company in PG did (cannot remember the name of the company)
Fraser Lake has an airport?
