Prince George, BC – RCMP are seeking the public's help in locating a Prince George man wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.

In a news release issued today, Prince George RCMP Media Liaison Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says efforts to locate 31-year-old Christopher Ross Blaney at two separate residences in the city yesterday were unsuccessful.  Douglass says RCMP had reason to believe the man may have had a firearm.

City residents were advised to stay away from two city neighbourhoods at different points yesterday – in the morning, Moffat and Lyon Streets was cordoned off at 5th Avenue for several hours.  In the late afternoon, the RCMP's special tactical unit vehicle was deployed to Carney Street, between 8th and 10th Avenues. The plea for public assistance in locating Blaney comes with a warning.  "Although we do not believe the public's safety is at risk, he should not be approached as he will likely make efforts to elude capture," says Corporal Douglass.

Blaney is shown in the photo at left provided by RCMP.  He is described as a caucasian male, six-feet-tall, weighing 179-pounds, with a medium build, hazel eyes, long brown hair and a scar on his right hand.
