Public Meeting On Mackenzie Timber Supply
Mackenzie, BC – Residents in Mackenzie will have an opportunity to provide input, as part of the process to set a new allowable annual cut for the Mackenzie Timber Supply Area…
The current AAC of 3-million cubic metres was set back in 2004. Under the Forest Act, the chief forester must determine the maximum amount of wood that can be harvested in each of the province's 38 TSAs and 34 tree farm licences at least once every 10 years. The deputy chief forester will set a new harvest limit for the Mackenzie area early next year.
The Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations issued a discussion paper in mid-October, outlining the geography, natural resources, forest management and land use plans involving the Mackenze TSA. Tomorrow night's 7pm meeting at the Mackenzie Recreational Centre will be about gathering public feedback on that information.
The discussion paper is available here.
