Demolition of Highglen School Underway
Monday, December 2, 2013 @ 3:55 AM
Prince George, B.C.- The demolition of the Highglen Montessori school has begun.
The first steps involved the removal of all hazardous materials, such as asbestos.
The school was the site of a fire last spring, forcing the Montessori classes to move to College Heights.
When the demolition of Highglen is complete, the site will be left in a “natural state” until further notice.
School District 57 has budgeted a maximum of $350 thousand for the demolition and clean up of the site.

To bad they couldn’t salvage and auction some of the things that are still usable there. Like doors windows ceiling tiles etc. Such a waste.
may save money in the long term in not having to keep up maintanence on an empty school building.
This is truly sad.. I went to this school from grade 4-7. It was the best elementary school I went too. Previous elementary schools I attended were awful. I went in to grade 4 being far below average reading level, barely knowing mathematical equations etc.. All because previous teachers at other schools didn’t bother to take the time to teach me properly. The teachers at Highglen helped so much, and it didn’t take me long to catch up to all the other students, and even surpass them in some cases. Some of my best and worst memories happened in that school, where I met friends who I’m still close to today, many years later.. It’s sad, the last thing our school system needs is losing more schools, especially good ones..
Just keep in mind it was the teachers, not the building that helped you.
