Red Nose Racks Up Numbers
Prince George, B.C. – It was a very busy weekend for Operation Red Nose, so busy on Saturday night that not all requested rides could be accommodated “Because of the demand, clients waited as long as 40 minutes for a ride” says ORN spokesperson Andrea Johnson “At one point between 1 a.m. – 2 a.m. we were backed up by as many as 20 rides. Not everyone who called received a ride and that’s because we didn’t have enough teams on the road. We apologize for the wait and to those we did not get to, but we did our best.”
On Saturday night alone, more safe rides were provided than had been done on the two days of the previous weekend, with 136 rides provided Saturday night, compared to 131 on the two nights of the opening weekend.
“Saturday night we were busy non-stop from 9 p.m. – 3 a.m. and most teams did between eight to 10 rides each,” said Andrea Johnson, Operation Red Nose spokesperson.
So far in 2013, 337 safe rides have been provided, compared to 344 rides in 2012.
The next weekend of service is Dec. 13 and 14 and organizers expect to have between 20 – 25 teams on hand to deal with increased demand.
