100 Mile House, B.C. – Construction of the new RCMP Detachment for 100 Mile House is expected to start before the end of this month.
Summit Brooke Construction of Abbotsford has been awarded the contract to build the new detachment.
The facility will have a total floor area of approximately 1500m2. The main floor will have the police functional areas, the administration and clerical areas, and public entrance. There will be a separate mezzanine area where the mechanical and electrical services will be housed.
The exterior of the new Detachment will be a mixture of corrugated metal panels, textured concrete blocks and prefinished metal windows. The roof is a sloping gable style, finished with prefinished metal panels and dormer windows that allow natural light into the public and administration areas of the main floor.
"With 18 Members and 9 civilian staff and volunteers, we have outgrown this facility". says Sergeant Don McLean.
It is hoped the new building will be ready by the spring of 2015.

That looks like a functional building. No mention of the contract awarded price?
Looks functional, affordable and realistic. Good call 100 Mile House. Unlike the embarrassingly elite Taj Mahal in Prince George.
I’d give em shit and push em in it….my nickel..
55m2 per person for a small building. That does not provide much room for future expansion.
Building like that come in at about $4000/m2 construction cost these days, with design, services, land, etc. additional.
So, say around $6million construction cost.
I cannot find the tender award figure anywhere … strange.
Here is the procurement info page which identifies the expected range when it went out to bid. That range is the construction cost only. Add another 15% for architectural + engineering design and quality control services.

Common sense seems to be alive and well through out the Province with the exception of good old PG.
I often see comments here that reduce issues to dollars and cents. Not that such matters are unimportant, but it is a valuable insight into the mindset of those making the comments. It suggests that they are practical, utilitarian folk. They are focused on the here and now, and just surviving. It is a frontier mentality, and not without merit.
“…reduce issues to dollars and cents. As opposed to “money is no object….? Good thinking. I guess.
“gus…55m2 per person for a small building.”
You are assuming that they will all be there at the same time?
Ok, so let me get this straight. A pile of people on here are losing their s**t about our 40+ million detachment to suit 120 officers while some are giving kudos for a 6+ million dollar one to suit 18 ????
So the detachment here has nearly 7 times the officers and 5 times the space. So take that 6 (or more ) million and times it by 5, add at least 15% more ( as noted by Gus ) and you get …. our new PG detachment.
Some of you are trying to compare an Apple to a Orange 5 times as big.
