Province Wide Counter Attack Blitz Nets Impaired Drivers
Prince George, B.C. – Some disappointing results province wide in the official kick off to the Counter Attack impaired driving blitz
On Saturday night, officers from 97 detachments in the province checked 32, 877 vehicles . Despite the publicity of the event, and education of the dangers of impaired driving, police say far too many drivers are still making the wrong choice in deciding to get behind the wheel of their vehicle after drinking alcohol.
Here are the preliminary numbers from across the province:
– 5 Impaired Driving charges under the Criminal Code of Canada
– 104 90-days Immediate Road Side Prohibitions with 30 vehicles impounded
– 94 warn results with either 3/7/30 day Immediate Road Side Prohibitions
– 17 Roadside suspensions for Drugs
“Impaired driving accidents are 100 per cent preventable. All people have to do is to plan ahead before consuming alcohol, it’s not hard – if you drink don’t drive,” Cpl Mc Donald “E” Division Traffic Services says.

Sometimes you just can’t fix stupid! Tougher laws need to be desperately put into action.
What is even more stupid, IMO is to allow alcohol to be sold in grocery stores.I see it added to the poor planning of many…all around.
The amount that are caught in road blocks are only a small amount of the number of people who are driving but not caught.
So its a major problem, and has been for years.
What a waste of time. Leave us alone and go find some real crime. This is just a cash grab.
Doesn’t matter where booze is sold. Go bust some real criminals.
They got me. I downed half a dozen glasses of wine (over a couple hours, albeit), got pulled over on Cowart, told them I had one, got breathalyzed, it read zero.
Must have been at least kind of working because there was a rather drunk looking woman pulled over ahead of me.
That was a weird experience.
That love the 90 day prohibition charge. RCMP Get to be judge, jury and sentencer right on the side of the road. Nothing you can do about it. That’s why only 5 criminal impaired charges. They hate loosing in court.
So The LOLocaust what your saying then is that you can go out and have a glass of wine – drink responsibly and go throu one of those roadchecks and be fine to drine – Really after what I’ve been reading over the last couple of years must have been false then. ie: Like I only had one and they took my car and licence away from me.
As for not-so-random and chevy2000 – I really hope you or your family is never involved with an impaired driver and the real damage they can do to a family – Go bust some real criminals – well if you drink and drive non-responsibly then you are a real criminal.
Think about it a moment. If they sell alcohol more conveniently such as the local corner store, then fewer people will have a reason to drink at public venues like bars and restaurants.
If ya can get liquored at home, why go out to drive.
In the past, it was claimed to be a social activity to go out Drinking, dinning and dancing. Now the service industry is seeing the results of stiffer enforcement.
Funny thing is they are probubly all over 45. That’s right, can’t fix stupid.

Well there that 90 day prohibition does seem to be used an awful lot…I wonder why?? Can’t those people challenge the police officer giving the prohibition and just blow a breathalyzer???
“Funny thing is they are probubly all over 45. That’s right, can’t fix stupid.”
That’s only because they don’t have a roadside test MDMA. Can’t fix stupid.
getagripreally, yeah, it’s weird. I was buzzed enough that I was a bit nervous. I even asked the cop if my sidelong glance was right, that it did actually read zero. I couldn’t believe it.
I guess I’ll just be more confident next time. Last time I was breathalyzed I hadn’t drunk a drop. The time before, 3 beers in 3 hours, 0.007.
I guess being fat has its advantages…
It is illegal to drink and drive but people still do it and some even brag about it…
Jim13135 states – RCMP Get to be judge, jury and sentencer right on the side of the road.
Well I say: Laws are written by lawyers , interpeted by lawyers and judged by lawyers – If the police did that then we’d be in a police state “interesting” all on the preception….
The police as I see it are just tring as they might to be an equilizer for us .. They have rules they must follow and those most likely are set out by lawyers – oh ya don’t most in upper government have a law back ground –
Haha, Pylot Project. Chances are pretty good that the proles here have no idea what 3,4-methylenedioxy-n-methamphetamine is and how it relates to MDMA except that it has methamphetamine in the name, so is probably that stuff they made in Breaking Bad.
not-so-random; chevy2000; The LOLocaust: you are the type of people who just don’t get it! What with police tracking people down from facebook comments, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of them read this news too. Then bragging about it is just setting yourself up to be watched more carefully. I just hope they catch you before you kill or cripple someone for life!
