PG Council Of Seniors Needs Urgent Help With Hampers
Prince George, BC – The General Manager of the Prince George Council of Seniors says the organization needs urgent help this afternoon…
Lola-Dawn Fennell says volunteers are working diligently to fill 190 Christmas hampers today in preparation for Monday's delivery, but, she says, they need a helping hand with the effort. "We have been at it since nine o'clock this morning, and our crew is wearing out and we could really use some hands down here."
The Council is located at 721 Victoria Street or you can call 250-564-5888. The second part of the plea, says Fennell, is for help with delivering the hampers on Monday morning. She's hoping anyone with some time will drop by the centre at 9:30am.
Fennell says the number of requests for hampers from seniors in need is up significantly over last year's 140 delivered. The Volunteer President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society has credited the Council of Seniors with really stepping in to fill a growing need in the community (click here for previous story). And Fennell agrees there is an increasing demand for assistance from seniors in the community.
