Have a safe and happy 2014 everyone.

There are alot of Moose being hit in and around the Prince George area.
2 Night ago some 1 was killed west of town.
South of town around 10 mile lake a guy hit a moose, some 1 stopped to help him and said that he had seen a cop 1 km back and went to get the cop. This guy had not gone a half a km and he hit a moose.
Some 1 stop and said he would go get the cop and you guessed it he handnt gone 1 km and he hit a moose. 3 moose hit within 2 km all within 45 minutes of each other.
The moose are comming out of the deep snow and getting the salt thats on the roads.
Pay close attention when driving out there.

+4 degrees. Yuk !

This is one of the best comments I read this week…

“”Is it too much to ask Christy Clark to work as hard getting children out of poverty as she does getting them into pubs?” “

Sure are a lot of people that do not know how to read traffic signs in PG. Stop means Stop. These people seem to have no regards to other traffic that’s on the road.

“Is it too much to ask Christy Clark to work as hard getting children out of poverty as she does getting them into pubs?”

You have to look at it from Christy’s and the BC Liberal point of view, Pylot. At least when the kids are in the pub they’ll be with their parent(s).

wrinkledawg: You’re right on. People disregard the stop before you turn right on a red light too. They act as though they have the perfect right to do that.
Until we get some major enforcement of those rules, its not going to change, it will only get worse.

GiveMore when I lived on the Island that used to be a real cash cow for the RCMP, better than speed traps. Just sit at an intersection and give people tickets for not stopping for a red light. Most people did not have a clue they broke the law. They also have a yield sign on most highways when turning right, even if their light is green they must yield to oncoming traffic and only proceed when it is clear to do so.

Didn’t mean for this to get long but here is an excerpt from DriveSmart BC: “Yield Signs, the Motor Vehicle Act is very definite about what a driver must do. It says that if two vehicles approach or enter an intersection from different highways at approximately the same time and there is a yield sign, the driver of a vehicle facing the sign must yield the right of way to all other traffic.

The key words in the last paragraph are “all other traffic.” This isn’t just the traffic in the lane that you are going to try to enter. Traffic includes pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles, cycles and other conveyances, either singly or together, while using a highway to travel.”

to all at Opinion 250 and my fellow bloggers I wish you a Happy New Year….
Stay safe and I will be looking forward to debating issues in 2014.

This message is to the idiots that design the passing lanes on our highways..PUT PASSING LANES ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH, NOT CURVES..DUH

I heard on the radio that the Greenpeace people are being released and sent home by the Rooskies. Looking forward to seeing the same or others take on the Russian Bear and their “questionable” environmental practises next year. Having a cause AND the willingness to spend jail time to make a point is in Greenpeace’s mandate, isn’t it? Opportunists with a gimmick. In the west, anyway. Not exactly pensionable time to waste yer life doing that. Now is it? To be hailed as heroes upon arrival home here in tolerant Canada most likely. Who’s next to go? It is to laff.

wrinkledawg after a snowfall it takes the city 1 to 2 weeks to clear my road. during this time it is a one lane 4×4 track. If I stop at the cross road I get stuck. If I can maintain my speed I can blast thru to the crossroad. (neither my personal vehicle nor my work vehicle have four wheel drive) When the road is plowed I can and do stop.

One more gripe before the new year . What’s with all the droids walking around carrying coffee and drinks every where they go . I go to the docs for a visit , incomes dad with small kid slurping on drinks . Next another dad with young child come in with coffee and juice .Whoops there goes the juice all over the waiting chairs . Come on people. Then you go to the stores and there are used Tim’s cups placed on shelves when they are done . Is this the norm now or am I completely out of the loop when it comes to manners .
Have a great Xmas and new year .

Askum. Went to a restaurant the other day, and two dudes were in the next booth drinking coffee that they had brought with them.

Wishing everyone safe and happy 2014!! :-)

I read earlier in Opinion 250 where a couple of people from PG are getting a taxpayer funded jaunt to Antarctica to study tourism and climate change there. I will take it that the term climate change in this context refers to man caused global warming of which there is no empirical evidence.

Anyhow what I am leading to is that there is so much summer sea ice in the Antarctic that there is a research ship stuck in the ice. Notice I said summer ice, just where is that AGW when needed.

What is doubly funny is this ” So let’s get this right. This expedition was looking at what climate change has occurred since Mawson’s expedition 100 years ago?
Mawson managed to moor 500 yards off Cape Denizon in a 19th Century ship, with no modern navigation aids or ice breaking capability, but the current taxpayer funded alarmists and paid merchants of propaganda are stuck in ice 100 miles offshore?
Well I don’t deny the climate has changed. Just don’t think it’s changed in the direction these alarmists were expecting! I also think it didn’t require 1million plus in taxpayer funding and rescue resources (not to mention the risk to rescuers).”

Here is another piece of information our intrepid explorers can have a look at, ” At today’s rate of increase in Antarctic sea ice extents, the waters south of Cape Horn will be blocked to year-round sea traffic within 8-12 years.”
I do hope our two explorers travel to Antarctica without preconceived ideas but with open scientific minds which is sorely lacking in climatic science these days. But hey its all about the money and politics.

===========================================

Move out of the city limits, our rural road is cleared all the time. WE would be crazy to move back into the city, pay more taxes and get crummy snow removal like you people all put up with. There is no excuse for it to be so bad.

So at least the kids can be with their parents in a pub… just like they can be with their parents in poverty???

Yeah, I see Christy and the BC Liberals point of view!

Define poverty. Non flat screen TV, old Ford Tempo and yer kid with an older iPhone? I grew up so poor I had to inhale 3rd hand smoke.

Harbinger, you do realize that you can answer your own questions by surfing the Internet?

Define poverty: In 2009, the low income cut-offs (LICOs) – also known as the poverty line – for after tax incomes were as follows:
1 person: $18,421
2 persons: $22,420
3 persons: $27,918
4 persons: $34,829

Askum: “Then you go to the stores and there are used Tim’s cups placed on shelves when they are done . Is this the norm now or am I completely out of the loop when it comes to manners .”

I’ve noticed this as well. Some people have the mentality they should be able to do whatever they want, including leaving their garbage on store shelves. Lots of idiots in PG.

Hey now JB, PG doesn’t’t get to take ownership of the quantity of idiots. I have quite a few down here too.

Like the chit for brains who pick up their dogs bodily functions and then tie the bag to tree branches.

That’s world class idiot IMO.

I grew up so poor I thought my name was ” Get Firewood ” until I was 15.

I grew up so poor we had to chop a hole in the ice on the Fraser River to get water.

Had an outdoor biffy, and used Eatons Catalogue for T paper. At 40 degrees below zero you did not spend a lot of time on the biffy.

Greyhound has called passengers in PG to alert that because of bus problems, they will have to leave town earlier than planned, cutting their Christmas visits short. What a shame./sham

we where poor also shovelled driveways way back when I don’t think snowblowers were around the wet heavy snow for .15 to .25 cents tough sleddin

I was so poor when I was young that when I needed to purchase a new car all I could afford was a Dodge.
