New Prenatal Clinic to Open in Ft. St. John
Fort St John, B.C.- In just a few days, all areas of Northern Health will be anxiously wating to here which family will welcome the first baby of the New Year.
2014 will also se the arrival of a new clinic in Fort St John, one that is designed to ensure all babies are as healthy as possible.
That region will see the opening of a new pr-natal clinic, which will be up and running to help all new moms to be.
Scheduled to open on the 6th of January, the clinic will offer a variety of services aimed at ensuring moms and their babies are as healthy as possible. Moms will have access to social workers, mental health and addictions experts, dietitians, an obstetrician and a breasfeeding consulatant.
Expectant women will be directed to a new Prenatal Clinic instead of regular visits to their family Doctor it is a move that will be especially helpful to those pregnant women who don't have a family doctor.
Each year, between 620 and 650 babies are born in Ft. St. John, that birth rate is well above the average for communities of similar size.
