Reports Of Gunshot Sends Hospital Into Lockdown

Prince George, BC – Prince George RCMP are still not releasing any details with regards to an incident near the University Hospital of Northern BC this morning that saw the Emergency Department Entrance cordoned off, as well as the nearby neighbourhood.
RCMP Media Relations Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says he is not able to release any information at this time, but it is believed police responded to reports of gunshots being fired earlier this morning.
250News first started receiving reports of the incident at approximately 10:15am. Photo at right shows RCMP Police Dog Services was called into the investigation.
UHNBC Director of Communications, Steve Raper, says the incident did not occur inside the hospital, but was near to the Emergency Department Entrance and the hospital was locked down as a precaution.
Raper says all security doors were secured until police arrived, set up the perimeter, and gave the all clear just a short time ago.
RCMP expect to release more information shortly.

After being in the Hospital for a few days recently and must add the service was great, I feel the visiting hours are too long and the main entrance is being used as a drop in center by some people. I think the Hospital needs to look into these issues for safty and health reasons.
