Not to dampen your growth, but you have to take the unique IP stat with a grain of salt.
I read 250News at home, at my current place of employment during lunch hour, and on a mobile device.
3 unique IPs…. one set of eyeballs.
Great growth because it’s the best place to get local news in Prince George. Out for a rip BUD
Not to mention not everyone has a static ip these days. Some people use proxys which will give a different ip each time you go on the net. Some people use spoof programs that are constantly changing the ip. Ip is probably the least technical way to gauge traffic these days. Maybe back in the mid 90s when things were less complicated that would have been a valid indicator, but not today.
not to dampen your thoughts Pylot, and Huh , but when say Canfor with one IP address and several hundred machines logs on and only a couple of IP’S it only shows as one, or say Northern Health, the School Board , Kemess, and on and on. The IP stats as you can see don’t reflect the total reach it is larger.
By the way thank’s for reading.
There is no accurate or easy way to tell how many people log onto the site, and how many unique regular readers there are.
There are many services out there which help to measure web traffic, but the article doesn’t mention if one was used.
All these numbers do is play well to the advertisers, both current and potential.
Nonetheless, 250 news is becoming THE source for local and regional news. Congratulations for a great news site! And Thank you.
Well said, give more.
We have two people at home who log into 250NEWS from one server. In addition we have two separate tablets which may log on from home or from any of the city establishments which have Wi-Fi. In addition, we travel outside the City several times a year when we take both computers as well as tablets and establish a similar usage pattern from another community.
It would be interesting to isolate a few “typical” internet users to see what their profile of access to the internet in general and 250NEWS in particular is.
I obviously access 250 a lot. But I also access other news sites as well sites which are informative on specific topics, typically to pick up other views on the same topic.
“I obviously access 250 a lot”
Really? Never noticed… lol – just kidding Gus, I enjoy your well researched posts.
I agree with Give More
regardless of the “stats” it is good to have Opinion 250 here….and we do continue to visit…..
Happy 2014 all
