Red Nose Wraps Another Successful Year
Prince George, B.C. – The final numbers are in for 2013 and for the fourth straight year, Operation Red Nose provided more than 1,000 safe rides home in Prince George.
The year wrapped up with 208 rides provided on New Year’s Eve/day which kept the 34 volunteer road teams hopping.
"We are pretty happy with how the night unfolded” says Operation Red Nose spokesperson Andrea Johnson “but as expected the demand for rides increased exponentially after midnight and at one point we were 65 rides behind as clients waited as long as an hour to get home. We apologize to those who did call but found alternate ways home if we didn't reach them in time."
The 1,001 rides ranks fourth in the history of Operation Red Nose since it's been offered in Prince George. More than 1,100 rides were provided in 2010, the best ever to date.
In 2013, 262 volunteers helped during the campaign in Prince George.
"We had volunteers who were real troopers and came out all nine nights," said Johnson. "We are so proud of not only them but our entire group of volunteers who sacrificed sleep and their weekends to help us. We couldn't have had the success we did without them."
