Do it so our rates can come back down
I would not count on BC Hydro rates going down if Site C is built. More likely, they will go up to cover the billions of dollars needed to build it.
That would create thousands of very well paid jobs, paid for through massive hydro rate increases. Not to many of the usual “first we log earth, then we move onto the other planets” gang will speak against it. However if city taxes were to go up a wee bit to pay for city employee wages etc they’d be crying like little babies!
Rumour has it we are facing massive hydro rate increases. Just like the ones the liberals axed before their re-election. Hmmm!
So you folks ignoring the 52 billion in contracts to IPP’s that is the main reason for rate increases. Our rates have been about the lowest in the world because of our already existing hydro plants. Hydro, like site c is the cheapest source of electricity out there. What is your alternative, curly mercury lights.
We need site c to eliminate the need to put out another call for IPPs, the rise in rates is in anticipation to be self sufficient by 2016 which is required by a law passed in Victoria
