Time To Count The Swans

Sunday, January 12, 2014 @ 4:03 AM

Prince George, BC – The Prince George Naturalist Club will be conducting its annual Swan and Eagle Count a little later this morning on the Crooked River…

Anyone interested in taking part is asked to meet under the Spruceland Shopping Centre sign at 9am this morning.  You're advised to dress warmly, bring snowshoes and your lunch.

According to the PGNC, 37 people took part in the 29th annual December Christmas Bird Count last month, which members say was remarkable, considering 30-centimeters of snow had fallen overnight.

In total, more than 10,600 birds in 46 species were tallied, including a snowy owl at the airport, huge flocks of bohemian waxwings, and comparative rarities such as Townsend's Solitaires were among the highlights.
