Continental Way Crash
Prince George, BC – RCMP report streets are very icy this morning and there has been a rash of accidents.
One person taken to hospital with minor injuries in a crash at highway 97 and 16. A pedestrian was hit on Winnipeg St. The person suffered minor injuries and is in hospital.
A four vehicle crash on Continental Way , extensive damage no injuries.
You are being cautioned to drive with caution as the highways and streets are in slippery condition.

The section of Winnipeg is in a school zone! I hope it wasn’t a minor.
It’s Mayor Green’s fault.
There was actually sand on the downhill side of Ospika this am. Knock me over with a feather!
Continental – I’m suprised there aren’t way more accidents at that particular spot. Pretty much weekly I almost hit someone there running the stop sign – I turn at the lights but a lot of people will take the next left trying to beat traffic which also involves running the stop sign.

Nonsense! This is clearly Harper’s fault.
With all of the attention and media that road conditions have had this week, plus the melting and rain with an overnight freeze, can we really call these “accidents”?
Yes they are “accidents” because not everyone listens to the media.
oh gotcha – so if the news doesnt tell you road conditions you are absolved of responsibility and can drive however you want… ‘K.
A lady was telling me about a little girl she was watching walk to school this morning and seen her take two steps and fall this happened about 8 times and then she finally sat down and cried. Whats wrong with this city’s snow maintenance
Does anyone even think to use the gears in their vehicle to slow down, or, how about putting it in neutral when approaching an icy intersection to take the drive wheel out of pushing you in to that icy intersection and then putting it back in to drive when you stop? Beats me how many people only think D and R with an automatic transmission.
Take the “Oh Crap” out of the moment before you hit someone and there’s always “Slow Down”, but that doesn’t always work when you’re texting……….
“Accident”

@Grizzly1. I do agree with the use of lower gears to help slow a vehicle down, but I am not sure I agree with your “neutral” theory. I would prefer to be in a gear approaching a stop at an intersection for the fact that if I find it necessary to have to accelerate out a potential collision (either my own fault or someone else’s) I don’t want to befumbling with a gear shift to find D. Just my opinion.
Yeah, I agree with you, sometimes you have to move fast to avoid something. What I’ve instructed drivers to do in the past is find an icy parking lot and go through their gears, until they’re comfortable with gear placement and measuring their stopping distance, in neutral and in gear.
a huge reason for this would, in part anyways, be councils new idea of saving money by letting the roads get worse before doing anything … and by then it is almost too late….
One woudl think by now that our city council woudl realize we live in the north, we get lots of snow, it accumulates on the roads and makes everyones life __________.well you can fill in the blank.
Anyone else figure next winter at least during the winter games our roads will be spotless…. and then we will be in trouble afterwards as they once again try and save money by negletling our roads and put huges amounts of money aside to build a PAC…
I wonder who is going to be the scapegoat for this mess—BG or MJ. We too watched as a small child fell repeatedly trying to walk on Ospika towards 5th. My money is on MJ.
I am on Westgate. I know it’s here somewhere. I saw it a couple of weeks ago. Still looking, think I am getting close. Hoorah, found it, found the sidewalk.
To bad not all Vehicles come with a Standard
Option anymore. The Wise Men in Detroit say we only want Automatics , every time I see one driving into a Storefront you can bet is
was an Automatic! To all the one who can’t drive a Standard you don’t know how much Control over the Vehicle you lost!
The conditions of our streets and roads and sidewalks are the Mayor’s issues and it is apparent she failed to learned anything form last seasons road issues to prepare for this repeat. There can be no excuses, no blame gaming and finger pointing for her failure again this season. She has but one job to do and that is to be the leader of our city and it would seem she is out of her league with this.
Slow Down!!!! I walk a lot in the City and I observe the incompetence of a major portion of drivers, who lack courtesy and driving skill and intelligence. Too many human beings are having a rapidly deteriorating amount of intelligence and consideration for their fellow man. So much for peace on earth and good will to mankind!
Mayor Green said last week that her drive down Anderson street was “Interesting.” She didn’t say something needed to be done about it, or that it was atrocious or anything like that. It was “interesting.” Maybe when she runs again for mayor and gets thrown out on her butt, she’ll say that was “Interesting” too.
And really, do we need anyone to tell us that the roads are slippery?
Maybe some do.
My god “Interceptor”, how on earth did you come to a conclusion like that out of my comment lol?
Just because some people don’t read or listen to the news doesn’t make them stupid. That is how I come across your comment. Then again I am just assuming that is how you meant to say it because after all that is what you did to mine.
So are you calling people dumb after they get into a crash because they don’t read the media? Maybe take into account the weather conditions played a role in these accidents like MANY have lately. Yes the media plays a huge role in letting the public know, but as I said before, not everyone listens or reads it.
If you need to be told that it is slippery, do us all a favour and don’t drive.

Nope your both wrong , it’s Neil Young’s
fault
Wow plowing fans! A city truck drove through my neighbourhood 1.5 hours ago sanding the icy road. Now the grader is here plowing the road! A+ for organizing skills city managers!!
PS drove by city hall this afternoon and the parking was completely bare!
I’ll be the first one to say that the snow removal in this city has been a joke this year, but come on! Any time anything happens because of ice, we say it’s the city’s fault? Winter happens every year, and with winter comes melting and re-freezing unfortunately. Even if the snow clearing was stellar this year, can anyone go to bed while the ice freezes overnight, and expect all the roads in this city to be sanded by the time you wake up in the morning?
clearly u all are miss informed and mistaken, its Obamas fault lol. on the serious note PEOPLE! like LittleBirdie posted. Wake Up!! drive with common sense!
I called the City this morning to mention that the roads around Harwin school were all ice. Even people driving to the conditions could not stop on them without sliding. I was very worried about the children who have to walk to school.
The City listened and went I went back through that area after school got out, the streets were sanded. Except for one corner (at 12th and Freeman) and I was almost hit by a YMCA bus.
I’m not the one that said these are “accidents because not everyone listens to the news”. It is quite apparent that the slippery conditions caused a “rash” of crashes. For a slippery roads to cause an crash, one must NOT be driving to conditions. The point I meant was simple – if one is doing 80 on glare ice I hardly call it an “accident” when one crashes.
