Crash Sends 2 to Hospital

Prince George, B.C. – Two people have been taken to hospital with minor injuries after their vehicles collided in the north end of the City.
A car was making it's way on to Highway 97 from Nordic Drive around 4:30 this afternoon and collided with a northbound pick up truck.
(at right, submitted photo of car involved in late afternoon crash)
The road conditions are deteriorating as the temperature drops. The light wet snow of earlier today is becoming a slick surface.
Once again, RCMP are advising drivers to slow down and adjust their speed for the conditions.

Yes, hello people, slow the freak down. I noticed the roads were slippery on my way home and sure enough, lots of people went speeding by me :P
Yes hey are speeding both ways on foothills. Some go by you like there on a race track.
This needs to have radar set up again.
I avoid pulling out of Nordic because of the busyness of that road with people going in all directions, instead I use the lights. Its a bit longer, but easier I think. I am actually surprised this doesn’t happen more often with people blocking the side road and those turning off to go down there simply stop on the highway and wait for them to move.
Bornandbred hope you were in the slow lane ;)
That road is really tricky now with the snow banks along the highway so big. When you pull out you can’t see cars heading north until they are almost there. Even the south bound cars are difficult to see too till its too late. Best option would be to turn right off of Nordic and turn around at Chief Lake road.
Maybe if YRB or the City of PG would go out and remove some of the snow piles on each side of this intersection this accident would have been avoided. Intersection on a corner with all the traffic going mach 1 along that stretch trying to get by everyone else before the end of the 4 lane plus no visibility at a fairly major intersection all played roles in this. But from experience at this intersection last night it is definitely the poor visibility of on coming traffic
oh come now tractor – you expect people to plan a safer route even if its a few moments out of their way? This is a town full of people that cant figure out “Keep right except to pass”…
Nordic drive and 97 is a busy enough intersection of a minor road intersecting a major road that there should be at least a merge lane and a turn off lane like further down at the wildwood school.
Of course that would not help those turning towards town, but it may help overall.
You’re right Loki – I would go one further and say that the intersection should be removed and the frontage road should access at the lights at Handlen. There are actually several places along the Hart where the little side roads should be removed and the frontage roads collecting to the major intersections with lights.
Handlen road is actually on the west side of the highway, and weisbrod is the road you are referring to that is east of the highway. Weisbrod does not actually connect with that frontage. It terminates with a few road barriers and a walking/bike path joining the frontage road to weisbrod.
Makes it real nice for cycling, sucks for driving.
