Flu Shots Still Available Through February

Prince George, B.C. – Northern Health is reminding area residents that influenza vaccination clinics are still being held across northern BC.
In Prince George, drop-in clinics are being held February 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th, from 1 to 3:45pm each day, at the Northern Interior Health Unit on Edmonton Street.
Free flu shots are available to the following groups:
- People 65 years and over.
- Healthy children 6 – 59 months.
- Household contacts and caregivers of healthy children 0 – 59 months of age.
- People of any age in residential care facilities.
- Children and adults (including pregnant women) with a chronic illness:
- Cardiac or pulmonary disorder.
- Diabetes and other metabolic diseases.
- Cancer; immunodeficiency; immunosuppression due to underlying disease or therapy.
- Chronic kidney disease, chronic liver disease.
- Anemia and hemoglobinopathy.
- Conditions that compromise the management of respiratory secretions and are associated with an increased risk of aspiration.
- Children and adolescents (age 6 months to 18 years) with conditions treated for long periods with acetylsalicylic acid.
- Children and adults who are very obese.
- Pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy during the influenza season.
- Household contacts (including children) of people at high risk whether or not those high-risk people have been immunized.
- Aboriginal peoples.
- Health care workers.
- Visitors of health care facilities.
- People providing service in potential outbreak settings housing high risk persons.
- People working with live poultry.
- Corrections officers and inmates of provincial correctional institutions
- First responders: police, fire fighters, ambulance.
