But what came to my notice-in just less than a year we are hosting the Canada winter games. We sure need to pull up our socks in the road work department!! Potholes, snow piles, terrible sidewalks, and so on. If it were going on this year -what a horrible picture we would be sending out to the rest of Canada. All the media WON’T be able to ignore the ‘look’ of our not so fair city. And no, we don’t need tons more new equipment, we just need people that can run the equipment, and know what they are doing!!

Want to rant a little about these medical grow ops. We bought our property 19 years ago and love where we live! About 10 years ago we had a new family move in close to us and approx. 4 years ago they started to grow that stinking weed. Now if this stuff helps people in pain etc. I am all for it but what I am not all for is the stink we now have to put up with!! I cannot sleep with my bedroom window open because the smell is awful, when we get company they want to know who is toking up. Did we get asked what we thought when the owners applied for a permit?? Did any neighbour have a say in what was going on in their back yard?? When someone wants to open a pub or a store the folks who live around the area get a vote why do we not get a vote in something like this. The first thing you notice when you pull into my driveway is the smell of pot coming into your vehicle through the heater vents. My husband and I chose not to smoke it and don’t think it is fair to have to breath it all the time. Move it out of town PLEASE

A big tip of the hat to the Prince George Peewee hockey player who stayed on the ice to shake hands with the opposing team after a controversial loss and after the coach threw a fit and pulled all his players off the ice. The kid refused to come off the ice even though his coach was yelling at him from the bench.

That act by the 11 or 12 year old player took tremendous courage and character. Way to go!

I know there has been much hand wringing over CRA auditing foundations. Some feel it’s all a ruse to stop legitimate protest.

I know some will condemn this content outright, but there is certainly some truth here.

The three amigos summit is happening this week in Mexico, where the Presidents of the United States, Mexico, and Harper Inc. are meeting to discuss all things important. Of course for Harper (Big Oil), it’s the Keystone XL pipeline.

I was reading an interesting CNN news article the other day, not the Tyee or Huffington Post, which described our Federal government, and the Conservative Party of Canada to a tee! Apparently Vice President; John Kerry wanted to send Harper, and our government, a message just prior to the “three amigos” summit in Mexico. Here is an excerpt of that news article and what Kerry said;

“Kerry reiterated U.S. President Barack Obama’s assertion in the State of the Union address that climate change is an undeniable fact.”

“We should not allow a tiny minority of shoddy scientists and science and extreme ideologues to compete with scientific fact,” Kerry said at the U.S. Embassy’s @america function in Jakarta.

Kerry said he and Obama had no time for what he called the “Flat Earth Society.” It will soon be too late for action to prevent the immense costs of doing nothing. People who refuse to look at the evidence and agree on change are “burying their heads” in the sand, he said.

I think we need to put this hockey thing into perspective. If you weren’t there, don’t guess. These coaches are volunteers. They get emotional right along with their players.
The kid did good. Let the association deal with the rest of it.
That team played almost 5 periods of hockey. To lose because of a timekeeper is frustrating. I get it.
Officials both on and off the ice shouldn’t have a lot to do with the outcome of a game.
The woman’s Olympic final was a horrible display of officiating. Bad calls, no calls, linesman checking defensemen on the blue line, hooks that were trips, no penalty shot etc.
The peewee coach has probably spent a couple of hundred hours volunteering his time to coach these kids including the kid who took a knee at the blue line. He deserves some credit for that.

This is just a reflection of the people at the top of the executive in my opinion. The president of the association actually compared the pee wee coach’s reaction to John Tortorella of the Canucks. Good grief. Not only that, apparently the executive had 2 meetings after this story hit the media yet they did not discuss it.

The association -for the most part- has forgotten that this is supposed to be a fun kid’s sport.

Today there are some very alarming environmental news from federal government study. Leakages from poisonous tailing ponds in Alberta tar sands are indeed contaminating ground water and have been polluting river waters, as predicted.

Funny how “they” have changed from global warming to climate change.

To begin with, facts are merely theories accepted by general consensus to be observably and consistently true. As in the sky is blue.

Secondly, the fact of the matter is that global warming as we have been told, is a small rise in the natural cycle of climate change. That is what is currently, commonly known as climate change.

These cycles happen seasonally, annually, over decades and centuries, even by millennium. it depends on what part of the solar system location is.

As it happens, human industrialization is coinciding with and reenforcing an upward temperature trend that is part of the cycle.

On top of that, “Global warming” in itself is not a myth – there are areas around the globe that are experiencing average temperature increases largely due to the “greenhouse effect”. However, this is not a GLOBAL problem, but a localized one.

So our Medical Services Plan premiums are going up again. I am o.k. with this, sorta. Yes, to live in a province and country that offers us such services I am grateful. However, I have never had children and that is where the rub is. We pay for a couple xxx amount of dollars and a family of 3 or more only pay a few dollars more. Fortunatly for us we are healthy and don’t need a trip to the doctors very often. What about the family with 4 kids, how often are they going in? We have paid land taxes forever which includes school taxes that no one in our family has ever used. This is what is being talked about with my childless friends this week!

Peeps the climate computer models predict a rapid temperature rise, real world observations for almost 20 years show no rise. How do you explain that?

We all pay for schools because an educated population leads to a more advanced society with a higher standard of living for everybody. It has nothing to do with paying for the education costs for your specific children, it’s about funding a system that is critical to the success of the country.

Have been advised that WestJet has changed my flight itinerary and now instead of a 8 hours of total travel time it now involves an overnight stay in Vancouver and of course the added expense of hotel and meals plus dragging luggage along overnight.
If as a consumer you decide to change your WestJet schedule you will pay a fee which is understandable. If WestJet changes the schedule there is no WestJet penalty and the consumer ends up out of pocket for additional expenses. Wonderful system.

Princegeorge warmers like to say sceptics deny the climate changes. sceptics do not deny climate just question the cause and rate of change.

Also warmers use the term climate change to mean warming because their use of the earlier term global warming is not working out so well since there has been no observed warming for almost 20 years which was not predicted by computer generated climate models. The grant seeking warmers are starting to panic about losing their taxpayer funded lucrative teat. See, if there is no problem, no money. Bad news makes money, good news no money.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t use the ICBC car insurance system. You get to subsidize those who do. If you never use it it means that you never had an accident.

If it is a good enough idea for insuring cars, why shouldn’t the universal medical coverage system be a good idea for people?

But that’s not the nature of these objections, whether there was blood or not. The wounds were self-inflicted due to negligence. Those wounds do not qualify. Kerry requested the first Purple Heart from his commander and was denied based on witness reports. Kerry subsequently re-applied several months later to a less discriminating officer with no knowledge of the previous denial. The award was granted that time. His third Purple Heart was also self-inflicted according to eyewitnesses. Both incidents were from shrapnel from one of Kerry’s own explosives where he was a little too close to the explosion and no enemy actions were involved.

Whether the other eyewitnesses were lying or Kerry lied I suppose is a matter that can never be resolved but one might consider that Kerry got himself sent home upon receiving that third Purple Heart the witnesses got nothing for their conflicting accounts.

There should be no added expense to you for hotel and food for the extra night; that has to be paid by WestJet. As for hauling your luggage around, demand a room at the airport hotel. It’s absolute BS to expect you to settle for whatever cheap ass hotel they want you to use.

Just saying. ..not barren, it was a choice. Have lots of families faces to look into and if I don’t, have saved enough to pay someone to look at me. Yes, like ICBC you pay premiums but I get a discount for my good driving. Maybe with MSP, we could ask people with more children to pay a bit more. That seems fair to me.

At the end of the day, stuff happens. Westjet is generally receptive as long as you approach them in a reasonable and respectful manner. This works in many cases when the customer has an issue. Something about attracting more flies with honey than vinegar.

I’ve heard enough different accounts to get the general idea of what happened. In short, the PG coaching staff should be embarrassed. That being said, I don’t think the coach has any regrets and is hoping this blows over as quickly as possible.

Like Jason Peters said in the Citizen today, this kid taught the adults how they should have behaved.

Westjet called and has paid for a hotel at the Faimont due to their schedule change where i now have to overnight in Vancouver.
its an inconvienience to go home a day later, but its still better than driving
