You Say Yes to Natural Gas Lines
Prince George, B.C.- The National Energy Board has announced there will be a public hearing into the NOVA Gas Transmission Line proposal for a Montney gas line in the north east of the province.
There has been a great deal of concern raised by northern communities, including First Nations, about the cumulative effect of all of the proposed pipeline activity and numerous LNG proposals.
We wanted to know how you feel about it.
Our opinion poll asked:
Do you support the development of pipelines to carry natural gas to liquefaction plants on the coast?
732 cast ballots saying YES (79.2%)
192 cast ballots saying NO (20.8%)
It is interesting to note that with the Provincial budget just around the corner, one of the suggestions from the budget consultation committee is that the province “Consider a strategic, cumulative environmental assessment of LNG projects in northwest BC and the creation of a common energy corridor for successful projects”.

I think his poll shows that we in the north are not against pipelines per se but when dealing with Enbridge, their record and their idea to transport dilbit through them, we are quite discretionary.

No it doesn’t. This poll is about natural gas piplines not oil. A slight difference don’t you think?
I like natural gas. I also like hot water and a furnace with which compliments my living indoors. Mmmmm. Natural gas.
