Prince George, BC – The Cascades extended their winning streak to 11 straight games Friday night at the Northern Sport Centre. The UFV Cascades, now 14-5, defeated the UNBC Timberwolves, now 4-15, 87–62.

The Cascades were led by Kevon Parchment. The 6'3 Toronto native dropped 24 points and was a solid 5-5 from behind the arc. Jasper Moedt added a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Franck Olivier Kouagnia (Yaounde, CMR) was dominant underneath the basket. The fourth year forward put up 17 points and ten rebounds for a double-double. Forward Dan Stark (Prince George, BC) chipped in 11 points and seven boards, while Billy Cheng (Richmond, BC) added 13 points.

Straight out of the gates the UFV Cascades were ready to play. The visitors shot over 50 percent from behind the arc, using the long three to steadily pull away from the Timberwolves. With four and a half minutes left in the first half the Cascades were able to drain back-to-back threes to put them up 22 points over the Timberwolves. Parchment went 6-7 from the field leading first half scoring with 16 points. Heading into the second half the Cascades maintained a comfortable 48-28 lead.

Continuing their trend of transition points and quick ball movement the Cascades continued to work their lead throughout the third quarter. A zone defence left the Timberwolves to shoot from the outside, which they answered willingly. Billy Cheng (Richmond, BC) drained consecutive trays from opposite baselines followed by a three from guard Jibreel Stevens (Tacoma, WA). Even with sharp outside shooting the Timberwolves struggled to overcome the first half deficit.

In the fourth quarter the Cascades continued to demonstrate their crisp passing, creating easy shots off of ball movement. Jasper Moedt (Abbotsford, BC) was a force for the Cascades scoring inside and pulling the defence out on long range jumpers. The 6'7 forward netted 12 of his 22 points in the second half.

You wouldn't know by looking at the play on the floor that the Timberwolves trailed by 27 during the Cascades largest lead. The home team continued to push the ball looking for different ways to attack. With only two minutes left to play Dan Stark (Prince George, BC) thread the needle to get the ball to Devin McMurtry (Surrey, BC) for the 'and one'. Even though the Timberwolves closed the gap in the second half they were not able to over come the first half lead amassed by the Cascades. At the end of the game the Cascades downed the Timberwolves 87-62.
