Eleven prospects to visit UNBC campus this weekend
Prince George, BC – It may be the off season for the UNBC women's soccer program but head coach Andy Cameron is hard at work looking for prospective UNBC student-athletes. This weekend Cameron will bring in 11 girls he believes have what it takes to play university soccer for the Timberwolves.
On Friday, February 14 a group of 11 soccer prospects from across western Canada will make their way to UNBC for the weekend. The group are selected high school players who are looking to play post-secondary soccer and have an interest in attending UNBC. The prospective recruits will have a campus tour, a chance to speak to advisors, as well as a chance to show their skills in the 9-a-side league organized by coach Cameron.
“I am excited for the weekend. We have 11 prospective players coming in on Saturday to visit the school and train with the team. The 11 players include two players from Saskatchewan, two from Penticton, BC, one from Vancouver Island, two from Burns Lake and four local players. It will be interesting to see them play with university caliber players and how they adapt to our style and speed of play" said coach Cameron about the up coming weekend.
The players will be coming from cities in Saskatchewan and British Columbia, including Vancouver Island and Northern BC. The goal of the prospect weekend is to get a chance for the girls to get acquainted with the campus and the current UNBC women's soccer team while having the opportunity to show off their skills on Saturday. For some of the prospective Timberwolves this weekend could be the start of a five year journey in green and gold.
