RDFFG Moves Closer to Medical Marijuana Bylaw
Prince George, B.C. – The Regional District of Fraser Fort George is one step closer to having a bylaw that would regulate where medical marihuana production could take place.
In November, the Regional District Board asked for land use bylaws to regulate the location of certified medical marihuana production facilities to agricultural and industrial areas. Draft bylaws were prepared and were subject to a public hearing on February 12.
Directors have voted to amend the draft bylaw to increase the permitted parcel size from 16 ha or larger to 259 ha (640 acres) or larger.
The amended draft bylaw will be subject to a public hearing expected to occur within the next month. The Board has also asked for further information from other local governments as to how they are approaching the issue of zoning for medical marihuana.
The current system of allowing medical marijuana production in homes will be phased out as of April following concerns from municipalities:
- not being able to know where such grow ops were located,
- safety issues on hydro connections and
- the risk of operations becoming targets for gang “hits”.
The proposed bylaw is a way for the Regional District to know where such legal marihuana manufacturing is planned, and to have a say on whether that location would be appropriate.

I’d be curious to see how much “gang hits” have happened. They’re making it harder for patients to get there medication. Going from $1 a gram to near $10 will put it out of reach for a lot of people.

Yes… yes in 2011 there was a study that claimed increased pot smoking lowered traffic accidents (although they only studied states that had a drop in fatalities not those where fatalities went up or stayed the same) – that is also mentioned here in the last link. While traffic fatalities were down in Colorado mary jane linked traffic fatalities were up.
But it must be a conspiracy because we all know O’ Cannabis does not contribute to car or even semi truck accidents
There was also a studying stating that people who smoke regularly did not have adverse effects while driving. People who were not familiar with marijuana definetly had more symptoms of impaired driving
I will put up a challenge to anyone…you be the Drinker and I will be the Toker and see who over said period,driving test.
