Prince George, B.C. – The Cariboo Cougars are headed to Vancouver Island on their final road trip of the B.C. Major Midget League season, looking to lock up a playoff spot.
They play the North Island Silvertips twice and will clinch a post-season berth if they  win both games.  Head coach Bryan MacLean says “we want to make sure we can solidify a playoff spot as early as possible so we want to make sure we get it done” this weekend.
The Cougars, 15-17-2 on the year, enter the weekend in sixth place in the BC Major Midget League. The Silvertips, 11-18-5, are clinging to the eighth and final berth.  The teams meet at 4:45 this afternoon in Port Alberni then play at 9:15 Sunday morning in Courtenay.
The Cougars host the league's first and second-place teams, Okanagan and Vancouver Northeast, in the final two weeks of the season.
