Prince George, BC – After having a day's break, the Open men and women are back in action today for the Senior Sprints at the Haywood NorAm Western Canadian Cross Country Ski Championships at Otway…

The championship marks the first internationally-sanctioned competition to be held at the Otway Nordic Ski Centre in almost 10-years and is an official test event for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.  Approximately 350 athletes from across the country are here to compete for spots on Canada's 2014-15 World Cup Team.  Additionally, the athletes from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the Territories are representing their provinces to determine the Western Canadian champions.

In the Junior Girls 0.8km Classic, Caledonia Nordic Club members Erica Kreitz and Pippa Roots finished 16th and 18th, respectively, while Kaia Andal finished 20th in the Juvenile Girls division.  In the Midget Girls 0.6km Classic, locals Danika Fiala, Sadie Bialuski, and Mackenzie Connon finished 9th, 10th, and 11th.

On the Boys' side, Bobby Kreitz finished 26th and Logan Sherba placed 30th for the local club in the Juvenile Classic.  While Lian Connon and Bhavish Parshotam placed 9th and 10th in the Midget Classic.

After two days of competition, BC is leading in the aggregate points with 2150 points from Thursday's Interval Start races, and 1709 points from yesterday's Sprint races.  Alberta is in second place, and the Northwest Territories are in third.  Complete race results are available by clicking here.
