BC Finishes First At Western Cdn Cross Country Ski Championships

Prince George, BC – BC was the points leader over the course of this weekend's 2014 Haywood NorAm Western Canadian Cross Country Ski Championships and wrapped the competition yesterday by winning the Swix Fischer Trophy for highest aggregate points total, well ahead of second place Alberta.
British Columbia led from start to finish over the four day competition, finishing with 6450 points. Alberta wrapped up with 4779 points and Ontario came back to regain third place with 722 points, followed by Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan and Quebec.
Action on the final day of racing yesterday saw local skier Jacqui Pettersen win the Masters Women 7.5km race, while second place went to Wanda Nemethy of the Nechako Club.
Other highlights for members of the Caledonia Nordic Club included a second place finish for Jacqui Benson in the Open Women's 15km race, Kaia Andal took bronze in the Juvenile Girls 7.5km race.
