Prince George, BC – Today marks the launch of the YMCA of Northern BC’s Strong Kids Campaign. The national campaign, an annual event, runs from February 15th – March 15th and raises public awareness and financial support for the work that local YMCAs do in providing children with values and life skills to succeed.

To celebrate the Y’s 50-year anniversary and 1964 incorporation date, CEO Amanda Alexander says  “our total fundraising goal of $19,640 is a fun twist on our 1964 incorporation date and funds raised support camperships to Camp Kanannaq and the Aurora Leadership program for children unable to afford the full registration fee.”

Activities include the return of the Strong Kids Challenge where volunteers will collect points and pledges as they participate in a variety of YMCA activities such as volunteering and fitness classes. Participants represent YMCA members, staff and volunteers.
