Science Fair ‘Stretches’ The Learning
Students discuss their projects with parents and judges at Foothills Intermediate Science Fair 250News
Prince George, BC – From making plastic out of milk and vinegar, to finding the best medium to grow a carrot top in – intermediate students at Foothills Elementary school were really in their 'element' yesterday at the school's science fair…
There were more than 70 displays for parents and a panel of judges to peruse in the school's gymnasium.
Science fair organizer, Grade five teacher Sarah Hibberd, says most students began working on their projects just after the Christmas break. She says the fair is really a chance for the students to 'stretch and grow' their learning, researching and working through experiments that pique their interest.
Hibberd says the students found so many unique and interesting ways to display their findings and some were already planning ahead to next year, based on what they were seeing at the fair.
A few of the Foothills participants were selected to present their projects at the Central Interior Regional Science Fair, set for April 5th at UNBC.
