A Good Rumour Isn’t Worth The Powder To Blow It To Hell
A good rumour is just that, it usually isn't worth the powder to blow it to hell, but it often creates a media rush.
The Cougars are the subject to that kind of rumour this week all though the rumour has been circulating around for several weeks.
The rumour that the Cougars have been sold is a bit like saying I have a date with Sandra Bullock, of course it all hinges on whether she agrees to my facebook request that she go out to dinner with me. That rumour sounds good but until you sit down at the dinner table you don't have a date, and a date the Cougars do not have.
Yes , someone can come along and say , "Hey Brodsky, want to sell?" That isn't much until you have the money in your bank account and the league has agreed to the deal. This hasn't happened. As a matter of fact up until last night, there was ,"no sale".
Is the team for sale? Well other than my wife, my dog and my honour, everything I own is on the table if the price is right. I would imagine the Brodsky's feel the same way about their assets. I recall the Citizen once approached this online site with an offer, but I don't recall any headlines saying we had been "sold."
So let me repeat once more, as I have in the past more than several times said, at this point the Cougars are not sold. Are they for sale? Well I'm sure if someone came along with enough money no businessperson would turn their back on a good proposal.
But for those people that like to spread the rumours, best to first ask the people who own the place before speculating, because until then, the bottom line is this, until I see the cash, there is no deal.
I'm Meisner and that's one man's opinion.

It’s true though. My friends cousins friends nephews mother said so.
How much for your dog?
The Brodsky’s can’t even make a sale with an ounce of integrity.
You heard it here first, Ben has a crush on Sandra Bullock :)
How could you let “Sandy” go to the Oscars without you Ben?
You have that right Summit
The rumours of a Cougars sale have been around for a long time. This last round was different as I heard many prominent people repeating it. I suspect there were some negotiations recently, and they may be ongoing, or they may have broken down entirely at this point.
But as Ben says, until the official announcement, there is no sale.
“of course it all hinges on whether she agrees to my facebook request that she go out to dinner with me.” .. what does Elaine have to say about that?
I doubt there would be any big headlines or news flashes if 250news was sold anyway. I doubt people would be walking around on the street and talking about it, or sitting with their friends over a cup of coffee and discussing the subject, so apples and oranges.
Elaine would go along and cover the story …. :-)
All that’s holding up the deal is WHL approval.
Cheers
Sorry Retired 02, I just got off the phone with the WHL, who say there is nothing before them about any sale or request to move the team.
While the sale of the team may be wishful thinking on the part of several folks, there is not one piece of information that can be confirmed as being true.

Its too bad the Spruce Kings didn’t have the funds or line of credit to buy the Cougars. I think a case could be made that with one team in town and the combined fan base and increased atmosphere at the games that they could turn a profit and manage the cost of acquiring the Cougars.
IMO it would right an historical wrong by the WHL in this city. The multiplex all along should have been home to a PG Spruce Kings WHL franchise. When quick profits and dollars were seen we ended up with a relocation franchise by a WHL insider and the locals that had spent years building up the minor hockey in this city were turned to the side. I would like to see that historical wrong righted and a community WHL hockey franchise here in PG.
Editor;
Sorry I put you on wild goose chase. Its not just a rumor time will tell. It just takes time to sort out some of the finer points.
Cheers
That’s kind of how I remember it Eagle. The WHL said it was not expanding, the city of PG was going to build a new arena and the Victoria Cougars relocated to PG. Then the WHL went crazy expanding. But I was thrilled to have the “Dub” coming here. I was at the very first game and many, many after that. The team was horrible, couldn’t even make a line change. But we were thrilled to have the here. It’s been about 4 or 5 years since I’ve been to a game.
Just for chits and giggles here are some Victoria Cougars stats prior to PG. After a 36 win season in 1988-89……
1989-90 5-65-2
1990-91 10-59-3
1991-92 15-52-5
1992-93 20-49-3
1993-94 18-51-3
So by Cougar standards, they are actually having a good season.
I agree Eagleone.
Fold the BCHL franchise, re-brand the PG WHL team as the Spruce Kings, continue with the community involvement the Spruce Kings were known for and get onto the business of filling the rink back up.
Pipe dream I’m sure!
5-65-2. What a record, LOL.
