Weekend Driving Challenges Throughout BC
Prince George, B.C.- Driving anywhere in BC could be a challenge this weekend as there are special weather warnings and statements in effect for a number of regions.
As the map at right indicates, the red areas are warnings, while the gray areas are special weather statements.
For Prince George, it was to be about 15 centimeters of snow today, then freezing rain. Much of the same story for the Cariboo, McGregor and Bulkley Valley.
There is a special weather statement in effect for Highway 16 between Terrace and Smithers, and that stretch of roadway is in line for heavy snow and patchy freezing rain . The north coast inland sections are under a winter storm warning, as Kitimat and Terrace are both expecting significant snowfall today and tomorrow, but the greatest amounts are expected in the Stewart area tonight where as much as 25 centimeters of snow will be added to the 20 already expected today.
Throughout the Williston region (in red), heavy snowfall ( 20 centimeters) will range from 15 to 25 cm but local areas could exceed 30 cm by Saturday morning over highway 97 near the Pine Pass .
