Upper Fraser Snowpack Still High

Thursday, March 13, 2014 @ 3:58 AM

Prince George, B.C.- According to the BC River Forecast Centre,  the  snowpack in the  Nechako River basin   is now  about 69% of what it normally  is  at this time of year.

The survey also shows the Upper Fraser snowpack to be 137%  of  norm.  The report says the elevated level presents  “an increased potential for increased seasonal flood risk” but that would  all depend on the  speed  at which the pack melts when  warmer weather arrives.  “Seasonal weather during the snow melt season is an important factor in determining whether or not flooding will occur.  Adverse weather, including extreme heat or extreme precipitation, can cause flooding in years with normal, or even below normal snow packs” cautions the report.  The BC River Forecast Centre is expecting a higher than normal  runoff for this region.

Near, or below normal runoff  is expected for the Skeena, Middle Fraser, Thompson, Okanagan and lower Similkameen basins.

Vancouver Island, South  Coast and the Lower Fraser have snow pack levels in the 52-67% range indicating  a below  normal seasonal runoff during the freshet.

But, everything could change, as there are still another 6-8weeks of snow accumulation season left.

With the way she spends our money I don’t understand how her business stayed open. Because if she runs it the same way she does the city it would have been bankrupt before she even opend the doors
