Heist in North Van Identical to P.G. Job
Prince George, B.C. – It is a heist that has more than just a familiar ring to it.
Last night, thieves drove a stolen red Jeep through the front doors of the Capilano mall in North Vancouver, drove through the mall to a jewellery store, and drove into the security gates of the jewellery store.
Once inside, thieves then smashed several glass display cases, scopped up an undetermined amount of jewellery, then exited the mall the same way they got in.
Police located the abandoned stolen vehicle a short distance from the mall. A Police Service Dog searched the area, however a track was not established. The mall and store property received extensive damage and is being examined by Police Forensics for evidence. Video surveillance is also being analyzed to identify the culprits.
If the story sounds familiar, it is because it was just a month ago that a similar heist, even down to the type of vehicle used, played out in Prince George. ( see previous story) In that robbery, a stolen red Jeep Cherokee was used to ram its way into the Pine Centre mall, then into the jewellery store.
So far no arrests in the Prince George heist, or the North Vancouver job, but the RCMP in Prince George and in North Vancouver are sharing info.

Modus Operandi is a stolen red jeep it seems. Not to worry, they will probably change that up in short order, stolen red jeep would have the police flocking to every mall in the area waiting for them.
Interesting… no one has been harmed physically by this group, we may just have a group of D B Coopers on our hands.
Like all theft and shoplifting, consumers will end up paying for it all in the end.
Monkey see, monkey do… of course… it was all over the news
Is this the same jeep? If so how is it possible it was permitted to drive all the way to Vancouver undetected by the RCMP. It was bad enough they couldn’t find it when it was reported stolen at the same time it was being driven away from the owners home. Bloody ridiculous!
Different Jeep. If one goes back far enough the same type of heist took place twice in Fort St John recently as well in the last year. Someone must have a fence that can easily turn the stolen jewelry into cash… possibly another jeweler.

Neat how you went from a question to speculation to a good old cop bash there…
