Blazers Take Down Cougars.
Friday night in Kamloops, the Prince George Cougars surrendered five unanswered goals en route to a 5-1 loss to the Kamloops Blazers. Cole Ully had a goal and an assist for Kamloops while goaltender Bolton Pouliot turned aside 35 of the 36 shots he faced, including 17 in the third period. Troy Bourke had the lone tally for the Cougars.
Bourke’s goal came in the late stages of the first period off a rebound from a Martin Bobos point shot. The captain’s 28th of the season moves him within a single point of matching the Prince George Cougars all-time scoring lead at 233 points.
After the first the Cougars were outshooting the Blazers 12-10.
Cole Ully tied the game early in the second with a high shot over the left shoulder of Brett Zarowny from in close. Ully’s goal was his 30th of the season.
Under four minutes later, Kamloops took the lead when Nathan Looysen banged home a Matt Revel pass from in close. Looysen’s second career WHL goal would eventually stick as the game winner.
Early in the third the Cougar had a great chance to tie, but Pouliot made a pair of saves off of Jansen Harkins and Klarc Wilson, and seconds later on the same shift Deven Sideroff knocked home a Cole Ully pass off the rush for his first goal of the season.
42 seconds later Colin Shirley padded the Kamloops lead when he beat Zarowny with a shot from the left wing side. Shirley’s shot hit Zarowny’s glove before bouncing in overtop of the goaltender. Zarowny would then be pulled in favor of Ty Edmonds.
Nick Chyzowski grabbed the game’s final goal off a three-on-two rush.
Despite throwing 17 pucks on goal in the third, the Cougars were unable to beat Pouliot, who made several timely stops in the third period including a breakaway stop off of Todd Fiddler which would have given Bourke a share of the scoring record (due to an assist).
The game ended at 5-1 but the Cougars outshot Kamloops 36-33. Kamloops went zero-for-four on the power play while the Cougars went zero-for-two.
With the loss, the Cougars have now dropped six straight and have an overall record of 26-37-3-5. Their final game of the regular season goes Saturday at home in a rematch with Kamloops.

The Cougars banner ad on this site has been showing an error for a number of days now. Doesn’t anybody want to fix the code? It reads…
Upcoming Games “undefined undefined: Cougars VS undefined”.
Or maybe it’s Karma saying their future is “undefined”.
Pylot Project must be your computer. Mine reads cougars vs KM March 15.
One more year of failure with a Dallas Thompson assembled hockey team.
How long can the owner put up with Thompson’s inability to assemble a competitive hockey team?
The following is from Friday’s Taking Note by Gregg Drinnan.
“The sale of the Prince George Cougars hasn’t yet been finalized. Which isn’t to say that it couldn’t happen today.
Rick Brodsky, the owner of the Cougars, is believed to be negotiating a sale with a group that includes Prince George businessman Greg Pocock, who owns Prince George Hydromechanical and a piece of Forest Power Sports, and NHLers Eric Brewer and Dan Hamhuis, both of whom are former Cougars defenceman.
A rumour circulating Thursday had a news conference in the process of being scheduled for Monday morning in Prince George to announce the sale. The Cougars will complete their season against the visiting Kamloops Blazers on Saturday night.
However, a source familiar with the situation told me last night that “a few things still need to fall into place,” but that the parties are close to a deal.
How close?
Close enough that an announcement could be made as soon as today.”
I have talked with one of the” buyers “and I received an answer that was positive for a sale.
bentely… nope it’s a badly coded banner ad. I tested it on three different computers, two different locations. The small one works on the left side panel. It says March 15. But the banner ad that runs across the middle has been getting errors for a few days.
Not that it really matters now.
I looked at the source code, and it seems like the database that the middle Cougar banner Flash ad draws info from has changed. Likely when they went down to two games remaining, and the ad is expecting three to be there.
It’s the same SWF file that’s been posted here since October, so nothing funky going on at 250News.
