Friday Free for All- March 21st, 2014

Friday, March 21, 2014 @ 12:00 AM

Spring has finally arrived,  at least on the calendar.

This  has been a busy week, with the  vote in the Crimea,  the  search for the missing Malaysian plane, and the  big reveal of  more and more potholes in Prince George.

Today is your day to speak up on the issues that  matter to  you.

It is time for the Friday Free For All.

You pick the topic,  but  obey the three simple rules:

  • Keep it clean
  • Keep it legal
  • No Bullying of others

L E T   'E R    R I P   !!!!!

Happy Friday everyone. Spring is upon us. Allergies here there come.

A good Friday second day of SPRING! to all.
metalman.

Good morning everybody. Please be careful about those icy stretches of pavement this morning again. Have a safe day and a wonderful safe weekend.

Hopefully winters final hurrah! Lets go SPRING!!!

One of the stories that made me shake my head this week… the rules involving selling beer & wine in grocery stores.

After all the “public input” and the announcement of beer & wine to be sold in major grocery stores come November, we find out that it’s not quite what it looks like.

Of the 53 major grocery stores in Metro Vancouver, only 2 would qualify today unless the rules change. The reason being, the other 51 are within a kilometre of a Gov’t liquor store or private liquor store. The funny part is both of the two qualifiers are Choices stores…. a chain of health and natural food establishments.

I’m sure there’s a number of private stores in PG within a kilometre of the major food stores in PG. I’d love to see the offers Jimmy Pattison and/or Loblaws are willing to shell out to buy their liquor licenses.

Pretty frikin cold first day spring….

“Happy Friday everyone. Spring is upon us. Allergies here there come.”

Simple cure for allergies! Find a local bee keeper and buy pure unpasteurized honey! A teaspoon a day keeps the allergies away and it tastes good too!

Our liquor laws in this country are just a little bit more advanced than the laws during prohibition in the US. They are ridiculously rigid. Most countries on the European continent you can buy alcohol just about anywhere and as well drink it just about anywhere. You can walk down the street sipping on a bottle of beer just as you would an energy drink or a coke.

I fail to see what the problem is with selling bear and hard liquor in grocery stores or any other retail outlet.

While up in Fairbanks last year you could purchase a bottle of whiskey, a 357 Magnum and a steak all in the same Fred Myer store. I didn’t notice any drunken back yard Bar-B-Ques that got out of hand where folks were shooting up the town with their recently purchased pistols.

Maybe we can lift this country out of the middle 15th century. It would be a nice thought.

No one said the good ole US of A gun laws were smart. No one has has ever shot up a school or movie theatre in Canada have they?

Have no problem with someone wanting to buy their drugs and consume them in public. Drink your face off as far as I’m concerned. But get behind the wheel of a car while loaded is a criminal offense. “Go to jail directly to jail do not pass go” so you don’t get to collect 200.00.

NoWay , as a matter of fact yes there have been school shootings in canada . Several years back in southern alberta . And a couple at universities as well . Sad fact is that our gun laws will do nothing to stop this or other criminal activities. Our gun laws only punish law abiding gun owners and turn them into criminals . Very unlikely a person who legally purchases a firearm will use it in a crime . We have to find a way to keep guns out of criminal hands to prevent this kind of stuff . That falls onto the law abiding owners to keep their guns stored properly to prevent theft .

Sad day, went out side on the first day of spring. It was cold and still about three feet of snow on the ground.

Where the heck is this global warming. Got to burn more fossil fuel. This way we don’t have to build a ice breaker for the artic as well.

What are they waiting for? I heard an interview on the radio-that the city crews would start the spring (sweeping) campaign on Sunday evening. During the winter we suffer through poor snow removal; then in the spring we get all kinds of air advisories. As soon as the roads clear-get on the sweeping. I know, I should move if I’m not happy. Not happenin’!!!

Bang on HarleyGuy, Was it a Montreal thing related to gunsa lot of years back as well?

Yes He Spoke , ever since they got rid of the big block gas sucking engines the weather has turned on us . I say bring back the 440 six packs and warm the country up again .There’s my weak attempt at satire for today .
Have a good weekend all

Yes acrider , there was that and then just shortly after Colombine shootings there was a kid in a small town in southern alberta shot up his high school . I know there are more but can’t think of them off the top of my head . But bottom line is as long as criminals have guns the crimes such as this will never end . As a proud gun owner I pride myself on making sure my storage goes above and beyond that prescribed by the law .

Only draw back is, to this plan of global warming is the polar bears.

Maybe the fate of the polar bears will be the same as the Federal budget if Justin wins. I think he was quoted, ” The budget will balance itself”…. Either he is very naïve, or he is just like his dad… hey wasn’t his dad the Pure idiot True duh, that started the deficit budget.

It seems odd to me that some peoples idea of progress is making sure you can buy whiskey, a pistol and steak all in one place. That sounds more like 1700s/1800s to me.

In open carry states of the USA one can have a gun in an open holster just like in the 1800’s. No permit required either.

I think he was quoted, ” The budget will balance itself”….
===================================

You have that a bit screwd up there , he spoke. Do you not know the difference between a PC ad and what the facts really are. You think wrong my friend
Cheers

time out says….”Maybe we can lift this country out of the middle 15th century. It would be a nice thought”

It will happen but only the special among us will reap the rewards.

It seems that the present way we sell liquor in BC is a hardship to some people. Gee, isn’t that a shame, having to go out of your way to buy your booze.

If you think that the Government is changing the liquor rules and regulations because of any concerns by the average citizen you are living in a dream world.

These changes are to generate more sales, and therefore more money from the Government, and to look after their friends.

Another uninformed firearm comment NoWay. You do realize guns don’t shoot by themselves right? No gun laws will stop psychos from doing what they will. The guns they just sit there and are completely harmless. People on the other hand…..

Bang on HarleyGuy, Was it a Montreal thing related to gunsa lot of years back as well?
——————

Nope, it was related to a pshyco.

No one has to go out of their way to buy their drug of choice Palopu. There are dispensaries everywhere. Just have to turn in off the road on your way home from work almost everywhere to get it.

—————–
” The budget will balance itself” is a comment used in the conservative personal attack ads that is being used out of context. Nice try though.

Palopu says…”These changes are to generate more sales, and therefore more money from the Government, and to look after their friends”.

Exactly. I understand wine sales will soon be permitted at our local farmers markets. How convenient !

Has anyone here been affected by the Sears Home Services scandal?

I know where I will no longer be spending my money because of it.

Please DO NOT SWERVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO MISS A POTHOLE!

I know the above message seems to be common sense but, from what I have seen in the past few days, it isn’t on our city streets. I can’t count the number of times someone in the oncoming lane has swerved into my lane to avoid a pothole, even though I am right there and have to swerve out of their way.

Dragon: “Has anyone here been affected by the Sears Home Services scandal?

I know where I will no longer be spending my money because of it.”

It’s only because of blind consumer loyalty that Sears continues to exist today. It’s a relic that should have closed its doors a long time ago.

saw more graders and frontend loaders out and about yesterday than I ever did after any snow fall this winter….
not exactly sure what they were doing… hopefully breaking down the ice ridges, which whouldn’t have been there to start with had the graders got out sooner after the snowfalls this winter…probably ened up paying more for the ice removal than we would would have for the snow.

will the city learn from this ..probably not…

“These changes are to generate more sales, and therefore more money from the Government, and to look after their friends.”

Actually Palopu, the proposed changes will generate more money for the government IF sales actually increase whilst giving consumers the illusion of convenience. I say illusion because it will be a separate lineup at the grocery store much like a lotto purchase.

I doubt sales will actually increase overall. It could provide greater competition in the market with the hope of lower prices, however with the current regulations that is unlikely.

HeSpoke, deficit budgets started in 1867, Canada was 15 billion in debt in the 40s.

Commoner. Under the present system you have to go to a liquor outlet specifically to get your alcohol of choice.

Once you have it in the stores, then you can just pick it up on your way out,. Very convenient, and of course people will buy more, because of the convenience.

That’s my take on it.

How many average people in BC do you think actually approached the Government to make these changes. My guess is absolutely none.

The changes are driven by the Government and those who get the liquor licenses,.

Palopu, granted that some will purchase their liquor at a grocery store and spend the extra time to do so (assuming the store can acquire a liquor licence). However, the sales will cut into private and Government liquor stores thereby creating competition but not necessarily more sales overall. If sales increase it won’t produce less money for Government – it will give Government more money via liquor tax that is built-in to the price you pay.

Those that currently buy alcoholic beverages aren’t suddenly going to purchase more. Consumers are creatures of habit. It may cause some to change where they make their purchases but to suggest they’ll purchase more? Doubtful.

Now if your argument was about Happy Hour – I’d agree about increased sales.

commnoner: “However, the sales will cut into private and Government liquor stores thereby creating competition but not necessarily more sales overall.”

There is no ‘competition’ with respect to liquor pricing in BC. It is tightly controlled by the government. Buying liquor products in a grocery store is a convenience only, much like a cold beer and wine store.

Palopu: “Once you have it in the stores, then you can just pick it up on your way out,. Very convenient, and of course people will buy more, because of the convenience.”

I think that will be the case as well. As to how much more, that is anyone’s guess.

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to how much the new recycling program is going to end up costing everyone, after the retailers pass their costs on?

The amount of Money in your Wallet or Account will tell you how much Beer you can buy, it has nothing to do with how many stores there are! I don’t need the Governments help to figure that out!

Hey what about Mr. Gox and finding oh, 200,000 bit coins in a forgotten wallet.

I wish I had a forgotten wallet…..

JB, there is price point competition and sales competition in the liquor market when it comes to whom winds up with the profit.

Businesses wouldn’t sell liquor if there wasn’t money to be made. Government liquor stores make a profit too. They are not revenue neutral.

Pick a product, go to three different stores and then come back and tell me there isn’t market competition. Each store wants you to choose them instead of the other two. That’s the marketplace.

There may be little flexibility due to regulations but the competition within the market is alive and doing just fine. Kinda like the gasoline retail business…

Your comment shows your lack of knowledge of the industry.

too bad about Bitcoins going astray like it did. one day soon I think it is reasonable to assume a internet money being used as a secondary wealth, operated by a world banking system.

What would be nice is if it is being backed by tangible assets like Gold bullions.

Potholes ?

If there was zero competition in the Liquor industry, that six-pack would be the same price regardless of where you choose to purchase it.

Sears themselves has slowly being loosing its customers. They really needed to check where there customers were going. They ended up at the old folks home and cemeteries. That is the cost of not pulling your head out of the sand sometimes and taking a good look around.

Staples are closing 225 stores.
Best Buy and Future Shop is loosing sales
I’m sure the Gap and Old Navy will be loosing sales.
Walmart is not picking it all up, so where is it going.

Maybe people in North America are finally realizing that we don’t need stuff that is just stuff around the house. We really don’t need as much as we think we need to survive. How much food do we throw out of the fridge every week. How many pieces of clothing that never gets worn for years. How many sets of dishes do you need? How many coffee cups does a couple need? We are caught up in consumerism. Do shelves full of stuff really make us feel better. Does a couple need a 4400 sf home.

I think people are shifting to consume less. Retailers has to recognize this. You have to remember, a good percentage of the jobs created in the United States after the 2008 crash, pays less than $20.00/hr. Meaning the working poor is getting greater and greater.

…and you wouldn’t have any choice of where to purchase your six-pack.

JB is so full of himself.

what happen to those couples that got arrested at Machu Pichu. They were taking nude pictures of each other. the local officals did not take kind to them.

Well, it is a shame to see these Canadians stuck in a foreign prison. But you know what, if these individual are that stupid to disrespect another countries acceptable behavior expectations, perhaps a couple of months in prison for them will be a good lesson for everyone else to learn from. Hope the Canadian consulate talk to the officials and get them out in due time.

Just because it is funny here in Canada to do something like that, You can’t do it else where, and be disrespectful to another countries culture.

Sorry, but see you in june.

commoner: “…and you wouldn’t have any choice of where to purchase your six-pack.

JB is so full of himself.”

Is that supposed to be your idea of a comeback? Pfft.

According to Jenny Kwan it was her estranged hubby who took the family and her to Disneyland, Bristol (England)and one of them boat ride down the river thingys starting in Vienna. He was a bigshot in the Portland Hotel Gang and told her not to worry where the dough came from. What a guy, eh? Will wonders never cease?

Boon, potholes.

Are you looking for some. I can sell you the rights to name them.

commoner: “If there was zero competition in the Liquor industry, that six-pack would be the same price regardless of where you choose to purchase it.”

You didn’t read what I wrote. I said that the provincial government sets prices at all locations. Typically, the prices at the cold beer and wine store are a little higher than the government stores. That is by design.

When and if beer and liquor gets into grocery stores, the government will set the price there too.

I thought this was an interesting story:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/marc-nadon-appointment-rejected-by-supreme-court-1.2581388

Long story short, PM Harper attempted to appoint a judge to fill one of the Quebec spots, although this particular judge wasn’t a current member of the Quebec bar (a requirement). He had been a member decades ago.

The Cons tried to get around this rule by changing the law so that a former member of the Quebec bar would be eligible. They did this, of course, by the logical method of attaching that legislation to a budget bill.

The court ruled 6-1 that the way they went about this was unconstitutional and that any change to the court composition would require a constitutional amendment and the agreement of the Provinces.

One could only assume that if they can’t get something like this through, good luck with the type of Senate reform they have been talking about.

I guess it just goes to show that regardless of what politicians think, there is a limit to their power when it comes to decisions that involve the Charter.

JohnnyBelt, I would say that the pricing will be set by the government. They are only interested in making it convienent to sell the product.

Will it cause misuse. I think it probably will to a very small percentage of the population by making it too easy to access.

In retraction to comments made months ago. I would like to think that it is not the right move to make for our government. I think if you want to get a government controlled substance, you need to go to a special store.

What next, the stores are allowed to sell medical pot????

Tsk tsk Harry bloy!

http://www.thenownews.com/news/ex-mla-harry-bloy-s-letter-raises-questions-1.914861

Harb, I agree, pretty sad when another NDPer loses their integrity.

so, anyone have a good rumour about

1) The Prince George Cougars
2) the new Delta Hotel and its progress.

Rumour ? Okay. The Cougars are moving to Boise Idaho to play in the Century Link Arena. But don’t tell anybody okay.

Grizzly1….Doesn’t make me sad at all. All politicians are like that. It’s a power thing. Another booster shot for me to fed my ongoing cynicism with the politicians, religions and in general, people near the bottom of the Darwinian scale. Eye rolling has become an art with me. If you ask me if I’m better than those folks, all I can say is, it depends on the complexity of the variables. Anyway, carry on.

An even better point you made earlier dragon master , guns are an inanimate object . A gun can never choose to harm someone , only a person can make that choice. Guns don’t kill people , people kill people , and those that use guns get them from other illegal sources .

Yes NMG, three cheers for the Supreme Court of Canada! Hip hip Hooray, x 3.

Can’t we all tell Harper has no background in law, he tried to make changes to the Supreme Court Act through a budget bill, what an idiot!!!

If a 1930’s Germany had a court system as strong as ours, world war II could have been avoided all together!

“You didn’t read what I wrote. I said that the provincial government sets prices at all locations. Typically, the prices at the cold beer and wine store are a little higher than the government stores. That is by design.

Yes I read what you wrote and I stand by what I said: you’re full of it. Government doesn’t attend every store in this province and set the price you pay at the counter. Stop being a ninny.

Reading comprehension is a skill. Perhaps reread what I wrote and god forbid you might learn something.

HeSpoke: “Will it cause misuse. I think it probably will to a very small percentage of the population by making it too easy to access.”

Booze has always been easy to access, same a cigarettes. Apparently, kids under 19 can’t buy smokes, but you still see pockets of them smoking around schools.

Ah commoner, when you run out of intelligent things to say, you resort to personal attacks and name calling.

Don’t worry though, you’re not the only one that does this, not naming and names or anything! ;-)

Ah JB, you didn’t win. As a matter of I have you in checkmate – unless of course, you have another move I missed and have proof to back up your position. If so, PROVE it.

You have no evidence. Stifle yourself it stinks when you’re in here.

16 bucks on my heating bill for the carbon tax scam. Anyone with proof of CAGW, PROOF ANYONE. Climate scientists, the used car salesmen of the science world. I apologize for insulting used car salesmen.

Been no glowbull warming for almost 20 years now, natural or so called Mann caused.

“You have no evidence. Stifle yourself it stinks when you’re in here.”

There is an example of a personal attack. Need anymore help with debating an issue JB? I have time.

Wow are the downtown street ever DIRTY!!!!! When will they start cleaning them….they will have a long job at it this year….they are terrible….worse than any other year, and the dust….horrible for breathing…

I too had the alley done last night….a one block distance…they went up 9 times

Harper made the appointment and when challenged, he referred it to the supreme court for a ruling. They ruled that the appointment did not meet legal requirements.

So what’s the issue???? If Nadon returns to Quebec and practices law he would be ok for the appointment,. The original appointment was thought to be in order because he was a past member of the Quebec bar association.

So no big issue here, other than a little fodder, for anti Harperites who are still whining and wringing their hands because the Conservatives got a majority in the last election.

Perhaps we should appoint one of the many no names that were elected to the House by the NDP in the last election, Wouldn’t that be a first, a member of the NDP, on the Supreme Court???

commoner: “Yes I read what you wrote and I stand by what I said: you’re full of it. Government doesn’t attend every store in this province and set the price you pay at the counter.”

Are to trying to be obtuse on purpose? Where did I say that the government goes to every store and sets the price? Are you saying that liquor pricing isn’t controlled by the government?

There is all kinds of information about regulated pricing on the government’s website. Don’t be naïve.

Have you got anything relevant to say, or am I due for another personal attack or name call?

Two words… Jenny Kwan
One number… $34,000

Discuss…

So what’s the issue??? You do realize that the Supreme Court seat Harper tried to appoint Marc Nadon to must be filled by a Quebec Supreme court judge and not a National Court judge.

It’s kind of like the residency scandal in the senate. Mike Duffy appointed to represent PEI was suppose to be a resident of PEI, he was not. Same goes for the Supreme Court.

These appointments, both in the Senate and on the Supreme Court are constitutionally protected. So Harper’s appointment of Mr. Nadon as a National court judge and not a Quebec Court was deemed unconstitutional.

Actually, I was hoping the Supreme Court of Canada would go further and declare the entire Harper Government unconstitutional. ;-)

Pylot Project, I’m really surprised at the lack of comment from some of the more vocal People on this site regarding poor Jenny Kwan (boo hoo)!

You said Discuss….

How about disgusting!!

@ Pylot Project;

Three words… Jenny Kwan’s Ex-Husband
One Number… $34,000

What’s there to discuss? Jenny’s ex-husband is an obvious a-hole, who stole from the Portland Hotel Society he was a director of. He lied to her saying those trips were being paid for by himself. The only thing Jenny Kwan is guilty of is believing her ex-husband.

The only person in trouble here is Jenny Kwan’s ex-husband.

If medical marijuana is such a wonder drug how come the big drug companies are not all over it?

who wrote the cheque for 34 ,000 ????… another pig at the trough in my eyes. Time to start throwing these thieves in jail. Tear up all you want ,,,tears of being caught, not remorse. geez and cheers

She got caught at the trough. Time for her to move along and let the next pig in.

Politicians are all the same. They’re all in it for themselves and their friends.

“Harper made the appointment and when challenged, he referred it to the supreme court for a ruling. They ruled that the appointment did not meet legal requirements.

===================================

LOL, well that is quite the interpretation of what transpired!

First off, the Cons obviously didn’t respect the rules that were in place with regard to the judge needing to be practising in Quebec. Had they, they wouldn’t have tried to get Nadon in by re-writing the rules under the cover of the budget omnibus bill.

Second, even if he returns to Quebec he will be ineligible. From all accounts, the man does not have the experience required to properly address legal issues within Quebec because he doesn’t have enough experience with their court systems and their civil code. His experience is with a Federal Court. Different situation altogether.

Third, the only reason this ended up at the Supreme Court was because it was challenged by Toronto constitutional lawyer Rocco Galati. Had it not been for him, Nadon would be deciding on cases for which he was unqualified to preside over.

Face it, this whole thing was a debacle from the start regardless of which colour your glasses are . . .

Obviously you are not a married monkey. If your spouse stole money from his/her place of work, would you be guilty?

Of course not!!! So why should Jenny Kwan be guilty. The RCMP are not even considering charges against her, but they are looking into theft charges against her ex-husband.

Learn a bit about the subject matter before you post a comment, it might make you appear less ignorant.

Ignorant I am certainly not. is anyone safe from your sccchmitt here ? If my wife stole money from her employer I certainly wouldn’t write a cheque out of my own account to pay for HER, unless I was somehow feeling just a little bit guilty,,, I would let the cops do there chop and throw the thief in jail , not pay it myself , my opinion which I am entiled to just like you are yours ,, get it ??? once again … cheers,

“If your spouse stole money from his/her place of work, would you be guilty?”

You might have asked where the money for the lavish vacations came from, especially if they came from a charitable non-profit organization and if it was authorized to be spent on vacations.

Just saying.

NMG. Lets not forget that the recommendation that Nadon be appointed came from a committee made up of Liberals, NDP, and Conservatives. The committee was not unanimous, however if this was such a big deal, then why wasn’t it challenged by the Liberals, or NDP????

How does one pull $34,000 bucks out of their hat to cover a SO’s mistake? I’m sure this $34,000 will feature prominently in future divorce proceedings. Right, Jenny? That’s if soon to be x-hubby gets another “job”. Allison? That’s another story.

PG, I guess you missed this part of my previous comment; “He lied to her saying those trips were being paid for by himself. The only thing Jenny Kwan is guilty of is believing her ex-husband.”

Well Peeps, you ran and hid last night from a real debate! That’s what you do!

so, let’s debate Jenny Kwan!!

The FACTS and TRUTHS are that she enjoyed both a European trip and a Disneyland trip, a trip paid for with taxpayer money, money that was intended for the poorest of the poor in BC! As this site’s advocate for the Poor, are you not outraged by this??

The FACTS and TRUTHS are that Jenny Kwan either knew where the money came from for these trips, or she is a complete idiot and was completely oblivious to her husband’s actions.

So, she either knew or was to stupid to know? Either way she now appears to be completely incapable of representing the people of her riding and she should resign!

Your turn, Peeps, or are you going to run and hide like you did last night??

I could say someone lied to me also. wonderful defence. always proves you to be innocent always always ,,,, always

Hart Guy states; “The FACTS and TRUTHS are that Jenny Kwan either knew where the money came from for these trips, or she is a complete idiot and was completely oblivious to her husband’s actions.”

Easy peesy; she asked and her ex-husband lied to her.

” Kwan said she trusted her husband Dan Small, who was a director with the Portland Hotel Society, when he told her that he had paid for the family’s personal expenses when they accompanied him on a business trip to Europe in 2012.”

“She said he also told her he personally had paid for an upgrade during a family trip to Disneyland the same year.

“I was reassured by my ex-spouse that he had paid for all the family portion of the travel…I trusted that he was telling the truth,” she said.”

These are Jenny Kwan’s words and most of us believe her. So what’s your problem??!!

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/ndp-mla-jenny-kwan-repaying-35k-for-europe-disney-trips-1.2581899

HG thanks that’s exactly what I was trying to say . words I think don’t transfer down to my fingers well :) cheers oh wait its empty :) maybe that’s why ?

I wonder if Peeps would be so quick to defend and believe Jenny Kwan if she was a Liberal MLA? I would think not so much.

I read where the Nissan leaf has a very poor depreciation rate. A not so smart purchase of a toy by UNBC and the city. But hey its only taxpayers money. Maybe a smart car might have been smarter.

Just wonder what earth shattering discoveries where found studying it?

What about the Liberal lies – BCR / GST / etc? Allot more than $34,000- the taxpayers paid for the 2 individuals to a tune of $6 M.

Jenny’s husband dumped her after they got back from the Disneyland vacation when he found out she was effin Goofy – Duh Huh.

“I Didn’t Know” politician speak for “the dog ate my homework” She should do the right thing and resign her seat.

So now it’s time for the conspiracy theorists to come out. No proof, no facts, just the sneaking suspicions that she is guilty which justifies your lynch mob approach.

Carry on subterfuge enthusiasts, this is no longer a debate, not that it ever was.

This is an opinion place not a debate club and as far as im concerned lynching is far to quick , how about public stonings once found guilty of course :)rock please :)

Innocent people do not cut a $34,000+ cheque.

Peeps, no proof, no facts and just sneaking suspicions.

You believe Jenny Kwan’s sob story. Why? Your answer is “Easy peesy; she asked and her ex-husband lied to her.”

How do you know that her asked her husband and how do you know that he lied? Did that conversation actually take place? Where is the proof of the conversation and the proof that her husband lied to her?

You then posted “Kwan said she trusted her husband Dan Small, who was a director with the Portland Hotel Society, when he told her that he had paid for the family’s personal expenses when they accompanied him on a business trip to Europe in 2012.”

There is absolutely no proof whatsoever that this conversation took place, no proof whatsoever that her husband lied to her. Kwan’s public “BooHoo” session was just a pity party for poor Jenny!!

You believe her? Why? Where is your proof that her statements were the FACTS and TRUTHS?

Peeps, you have no problem jumping all over Shirley Bond, Mike Morris or any other member of the Liberal Party and yet here you are defending poor Jenny?

I’ve told you many times before that you seem to have a double standard and that makes you a hypocrite.

The Portland Housing Society has misused money that was intended for the poorest of the poor in BC. Jenny Kwan got some of it! As you claim to be the person of the “People”, where is your sense of outrage over this? Why is this suddenly acceptable to you?? Is it now acceptable to steal from the poor??

Come on Peeps, let’s see if you can provide an intelligent response?? Heck, from you I’d be happy with a semi-intelligent response! Either way, I don’t think that I’ll hold my breath while waiting for one!!

A gentleman (husband of the lady that founded the society) said on TV that there was never any taxpayers’ money involved but only money from private donations, as far as I understood his excuses.

Imagine using money from caring and kind private donors to fund vacation trips of extremely well heeled people!

Reminds me of another fund abduction incident by an NDP MLA involving the Nanaimo (?) Commonwealth society, also a non-profit charity. If my memory serves me right it was a certain Dave Stupich.

And then there was Svend Robinson, he wanted that ring so bad….

Prince George, I was just logging back on to this site to make mention of Bingogate starring NDP MLA Dave Stupich and the Nanaimo Commonwealth Holding Society!

Thanks for beating me to the punch.

For those that don’t recall or know that much about what happened with the Bingogate scandal, I’m sure that Peeps would be more than willing to post a few links to the topic or cut and paste a few articles about Bingogate.

Peeps, would you do that for us, please?? I would, but I’m not intelligent enough to figure out how to do that. You’re the expert, so have at it!!

Oh my goodness, how could I forget about Svend Robinson??

It was easy, he’s forgettable!!

Peeps, how about a few posts about Svend Robinson and his “5 Finger Discount” Ring purchase??

There was “Bingogate” but wasn’t there also a “Casinogate” ?

In the spirit of fairness though, here’s a good one.

Reid Affair-(Social Credit Party)
Bill Reid forced to resign after a report showed that he was diverting lottery funds into a company owned by his former campaign manager.

People #1 said.. “Learn a bit about the subject matter before you post a comment, it might make you appear less ignorant.”

Pot calling the kettle black.

Really? With all her connections and networks, you think JK really didn’t know any of those trips came from the the society coffers? Really?

It’s people like you that keep political scumbags in power. Keep drinking the special water People #1.

Actually Palopu and NMG, the Harper government did a lot of homework on the Nadon file before they appointed him. Some of the Conservative concerns about Federal judges not being eligible for Supreme court appointments were voiced by the Justice Minister; Peter McKay as early as last September.

In other words the Harper Conservatives knew there could be constitutional challenges to Mr. Nadon’s appointment and called for a number of judicial and lawyer reviews of the situation.

Oh my goodness, all this commenting attention, by so many, directed at little ole me? You all flatter me so ;-) This reminds me of a Gandhi saying:

“Many people, especially ignorant people, want to punish you for speaking the truth, for being correct, for being you.

Never apologize for being correct, for being years ahead of your time. If you are right and you know it, speak your mind. Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is still the truth!” ~ Gandhi

Amen to that Mr. Gandhi. Amen to that!

I wonder if Peeps would be so quick to defend and believe Jenny Kwan if she was a Liberal MLA? I would think not so much.

Would you?

And now from the Medical pot grow op file. Just because the FFGRD has claimed these pot grow ops can only be built on 640 acres or more means squat. If there is any land around here that is in the ALR and the owners want to build a legal grow op on it the FFGRD has no say in it. All that’s required is a federal licence.

Put that in your controlling pipes and smoke it FFGRD!

Oh goody. Quotes.

-Do not impose on others you yourself do not desire

_Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves

Confucius

Amazing! Peeps, even with all of his superior intellect, is unable to answer even the simplest of questions! Instead he attempts to deflect attention away from the issues placed before him!

For someone who laments not being able to have an intelligent debate, he runs and hides at the very first hint of one.

Just a big ol’ bag of wind, for all to see!!

middle finger, speaking of quotes, here’s one that seems relevant considering Peep’s unwillingness to answer a few questions or debate issues presented to him:

“It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.” – Mark Twain

Have a great night!!

Here’s another one middle finger, I think we all know to whom this would apply ;-)

“Hatred is the coward’s revenge for being intimidated.” ~ George Bernard Shaw

Dragon: “Would you?”

I haven’t posted anything one way or the other. Truth be told, I don’t even care that much. I just find the hypocrisy interesting.

It is incredible that we have a blue box recycling program coming to PG and nobody is asking how much it will cost.

Nobody is asking any questions or doing any journalism. Not The Citizen, Free Press, or this site.

Not every industry gets a free pass like the recycling industry seems to. Amazing.

So let me get this straight JB; you present a hypothetical situation, ask me what I would say about it, then go ahead and assume I would make a certain comment and call me a hypocrite about it?

Wow… you are some kind of awesome… *rolls eyeballs*
