University Way Reopens

Wednesday, March 19, 2014 @ 11:41 AM

Prince George B.C.- University Way in Prince George has been reopened to  traffic  as  the RCMP bomb disposal unit has  dealt with the  explosive device that was discovered  around midnight last night.

"It was in I.E.D, ( improvised explosive device) " says Corporal Craig Douglass, media liaison with the Prince George RCMP detachment.

The device was discovered  by officers who were responding to a call of "shots fired", after  people reported hearing a loud bang  around midnight last night.

The device was spotted near a garbage can and light standard on University Way. The area was searched by a Police Service Dog and the Forensic Identification Section was called in to gather evidence.  The road was re-opened to all traffic at 11:10 AM.

"Our response was necessary in this situation" says Inspector Brad Anderson, Operations Officer for the Prince George Detachment.  "Our first priority will always be the safety of our officers and the general public."

The RCMP's Explosive Disposal Unit flew to Prince George from the lower mainland this morning.

From the time the device was discovered and the area secured, the general public, including those persons at the University of Northern BC, were not at risk.

Police say a person on a bike was seen in the area of the improvised explosive device around the time the ncident was  initially reported..  Police are looking to identify this person.

The investigation into this incident is continuing.  The Prince George RCMP have allocated a number of resources towards this investigation and will continue to do so.

Anyone with information about this Criminal offence or the person(s) responsible, is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477, online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca (English only), or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637) using keyword "pgtips".

I had a discussion with a woman this morning who was so upset with the police causing her a massive inconvenience because she had to detour and added 10 minutes onto her drive she did not nor would not be reasoned with all because the police intentionally made her detour. She said we could still drive by the device and then shut the road down when the disposal team got there.

How retarded can you get in her case it is rampant

Well Dearth, I think she’s got a point. There’s no way the police should be interfering with the natural order of things. Natural selection requires allowing stupid people to do stupid things so they don’t reproduce and create stupid offspring. The RCMP failed in that they were fighting the forces of nature, and they should have allowed her – just her – through – and who knows, problem might have solved itself.

HA HA HA

LOL ski50, I think you may be right!

“Natural selection requires allowing stupid people to do stupid things so they don’t reproduce and create stupid offspring.”

So very true.

metalman.

I.E.D.? Hmmm? Sounds familiar. Any suspects? Check for alibis. I would. Where to start? Hmmm?

Probably a middle aged woman who’s never worked a day in her life.

Hey anyone who heard the bang, email hillarymerghanginarobert@gmail.com

“How retarded can you get in her case it is rampant”

So true and still a similar group insists on using their electronic devices while driving! Ontario is going for 1000.00 fine.

“Officers were responding to a call of “shots fired”. What kind of damage did these “shots fired” do? It was an I.E.D, ( improvised explosive device)” Why not identify the I.E.D.? Firecracker? Next time please put the lid back on the garbage can. Bears could come out of hibernation in the area. We do not want a casualty.

Wanna bet the whole country hears about our I.E.D.s soon? Eyebrows will go up. Sure hope Hedi Fry doesn’t open her yap about it (as we speak).

Is it fair to suggest that the RCMP does not know the difference between a fire cracker and an Improvised Explosive Device?

Ski, love your good ol’ fashion common sense!

PG: “Is it fair to suggest that the RCMP does not know the difference between a fire cracker and an Improvised Explosive Device?”

No. If it’s homemade, it’s an IED.

“Is it fair to suggest that the RCMP does not know the difference between a fire cracker and an Improvised Explosive Device?”

The most imbecilic comment of the day!

I was thinking, hopefully PG meant it as a joke………

I.E.D? Get Omar on Skype. He’ll tell ya.

Was it an actual ied or more of a noise maker. After all found near the uni.

The roaring silence makes me suspect yet another gross overreaction.

and here we have why the RCMP can never win… Take care of a potential problem and the know it alls say it was an overreaction. Something goes wrong and they get blamed for not doing enough.

Hmmm… makes me think we might have a budding Ted Kaczynski on our hands. Hope the RCMP catch him before he goes to that level.

Ted Kaczynski was called the Unibomber. Bill Clinton was called the Unibanger. Old joke.

Interceptor since when have the RCMP have been forthcoming with any information, especially truthfully information.

“I was thinking, hopefully PG meant it as a joke………”

No, it was not a joke! It was made in response to the earlier stupid comment made by someone else:

“Why not identify the I.E.D.? Firecracker?”

There you have it!

ski50: Trouble is, a lot of these people have already reproduced.

When the RCMP says “it’s under investigation” that means they don’t know anything.
