Prince George, B.C. – The investigation of a duplex fire on Victoria Street this morning has been turned over to the RCMP.

Assistant Chief Greg Wilkins with Prince George Fire/Rescue says the fire is considered suspicious in nature and that’s why the police are conducting the investigation.

Fifteen firefighters from three halls were dispatched to the 22-hundred block Victoria just after 8:30 this morning.  They found smoke billowing out of one side of the side-by-side duplex.  Assistant Chief Wilkins says the side of the building that was on fire is occupied, but nobody was at home at the time.  The firefighters limited the damage to that side of the building.  The other side is vacant.

Damage is estimated at $80,000.

There were no injuries sustained by the fire crews who responded to the alarm.
