Community Achievement Award Recipients Named
Prince George, B.C. – Two residents of Prince George and one from Quesnel, are among those to be recognized with a B.C. Community Achievement Award.
Selen Alpay of Prince George is being recognized for “his board leadership and philanthropy, personally and through his Canadian Tire business, a wide range of local organizations including Prince George and District Elizabeth Fry Society, Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, Northern Supportive Recovery Centre, Baldy Hughes Therapeutic Community and the Canadian Cancer Society –Northern Region.
Judy Dix of Prince George is being recognized for her 30 years of volunteering for the Cerebral Palsy Sports Association, Volunteer Prince George, Prince George CrimeStoppers, Canadian Red Cross, Prince George Seniors’ Resource Centre, Meals on Wheels and the Prince George Community Foundation.
Pat Wahlstrom of Quesnel is receiving a Community Achievement Award in recognition of her three decades of involvement in the Quesnel arts scene. She was the longtime coordinator for the Quesnel Art Gallery.
The three are among 33 British Columbians who will be recognized in a formal presentation at Government House in Victoria on April 29, 2014. Each will receive a certificate and a medallion designed by BC artist Robert Davidson.
“As British Columbians, we are inspired by those in our communities who make a difference by their efforts” said Premier Christy Clark. “Thank you to the 2014 recipients for their contributions; you make our Province stronger with your commitment and generosity.”

Good god these comments!!…….but anyway……..congratulations to Selen and Judy, two people who simply make our city better. They are mighty fine contributors in very many ways.
Last week We at 250News warned posters about their conduct in posting multiple comments . We also must add that if you cannot show some common sense, you will find you no longer can post those comments.

Judy Dix never stops giving….congratulations to both ladies.
I know Judy personally. She is a fine woman and a great example of giving back to ones community. Selen also shows great community spirit by not only getting involved personally but getting his entire company involved in making PG a little better.
