Moose Takes a Break

Friday, March 28, 2014 @ 4:36 PM

Prince George, B.C. – It was a bit of “moose-tery” to a passing  driver.

As he headed down  Sintich Road earlier today, he spotted a moose, who   he feared had been struck by a vehicle.

( at  right, moose  relaxes at the side of the road- photo submitted)

The caller to  250News says he pulled over to see if she was ok,  and  she didn’t budge “I was worried because she just didn’t  move,  I tried honking my horn to see if  that would get a reaction, but nothing.”

Concerned this moose was  in distress, he called the Conservation Officers.

It took them a while to arrive on scene, but  they were able to walk  up to  the  moose, at which time she stood up.  Conservation officers  say  she had  a severe case of ticks  on her back end, but figure she will be ok once the warmer weather arrives.  The moose wandered off into the bush.

Conservation officers say it is not uncommon for wild animals to take time to  just “soak up some sunshine” and that  is what  it appears this moose was doing.  “Moose-tery” solved.

I once seen a huge grizzly bear suntanning on the side of the road in Banff with tourists all around filming it. It just laid their watching everyone like the dumb humans were a spectacle to it.

I see quite a few deer browsing along the East side of the hill West of Sintich. Some right across from where the old scale used to be.

I am surprised this moose has ticks considering the winter we had.

True story.

About 10 years ago, we had a moose in our neighborhood, struggling with bad, bad ticks.

He came into my neighbors’ front yard and collapsed. Conservation came and assesed and finally shot the poor animal. The minute they shot the ticks left the carcass and went into the lawn, it was a blood soaked catastrophy…I have never seen this before..amazing

Hey Palopu

CN owns those deer, those are our babies.

Like CN is the biggest animal killer in Canada. Thousands of animals are killed on the tracks ever year.

Doneright,,,,you worry about those poor animals on the railway, but you would probably never think twice about walking over a drunk, or addict on the street,,,same scenario
