Victoria, B.C.-  The Liberal win in Quebec's provincial election  has B.C.Premier Christy Clark issuing a congratulatory note.  As of publication time, Liberal Phillippe Couillard's team  had taken 71 of the 125 available seats.
The PQ  secured 29, (PQ leader Pauline Marois would lose in her own riding)  and the  Coalition Avenir Quebec  picked up 22.

"Like most Canadians, I have been paying close attention to the provincial election in Quebec" says Premier Clark, "The Canada I have lived and worked in, the country that I am humbled to represent around the world, includes Quebec.  I look forward to working with Premier-elect Couillard at the Premiers' table on our shared goals: building a proud, prosperous and inclusive Canada."

“…took 71 of the 165 available seats.”

CBC says there are 125 seats in the Quebec legislature.

Its good the PQ is out, but a shame they get a majority liberal government with all the overhang of corruption issues related to the Quebec liberal prarty.

Think the 165 is misprint. I don’t care what happens in que, sick of them getting so much from the federal gov though..

Every time a separatist in Qeebec opens their yap it wreaks havoc on our dollar. Who would invest in a country that might break up? (Ukraine notwithstanding).

Eagleone, it would not be Quebec if there was no money scandal. All parties have been partaking in “corruption” in Quebec.

Marois was only in power for 18 months. Not enough time to uncover any scandal … unless I missed one. I am not exactly a Quebec politics watcher.

Macleans wrote a good piece on that recently.

The factors behind the province’s penchant for money politics

This is a sad for me. I was hoping Quebec would go PQ and the ROC could stand back and watch this turd of a province circle the bowl. The fact that the charter these bigots proposed was actually not a problem for a majority of Quebecers guarantees they will be a pain in Canada’s ass for another generation. Watch the federal opposition party’s begin suckholing to Quebec with all sorts of goddies if elected. If the LIBS take Quebec, we can all look forward to a repeat of history. Political coruption ia a way of life in Quebec. I was really hoping a PQ victory would speed up the process of lancing this boil.

The Federal election will be exciting. Let’s see how far left the Reform and Alliance faction of the Conservatives can move closer to the center of the political spectrum before then.

dow7500, sad to say it, but Quebec is like a unhappy wife, threatening to leave and always getting spoiled to stay a bit longer. Is it possible for the rest of Canada to take a vote to see if they want to keep Quebec?

We started the year with Four women Premiers. We are now down to one. Will Christy be next???

It truly is amazing, A province the size of Quebec, with all its resources, still remains a have not province requiring so much subsidies.

Must be embarrassing to say I come from Quebec, when you come to western Canada.

The NDP gains in Quebec in the last Federal election was an anomaly. I seriously doubt that they would get anywhere near that amount of seats this time around. More likely Quebecs seats will be split three ways, especially with Mulcair leading he party.

I’ve listened to Quebec begging to leave Canada since I was old enough to understand, I will be 62 next month. I am so sick of this BS like most real Canadians are I believe. Kick them out, and they can take their share of tha national debt with them. Get their own currency, and make them get a passport to enter “CANADA”! Stop sending them money, so they can have free child care, and have their post secondary dducation subsidized while the rest of “CANADA” is struggling to pay. When I file my income tax, why is there a special section for Quebec.

I just want them to GO AWAY! Please and thank you.

They recently banned hydraulic fracturing, which is nice, except they are more than willing to accept transfer money from provinces who do.

If they were truly against the practice, they should reject the money that comes from it as well. No, I won’t be holding my breath for that to happen.
