Prince George, B.C. – A suspect has been arrested in connection with an assault on a 14 year old.

Yesterday afternoon, a 14 year old   told police he had been approached by a man in the 8th Avenue and Ewert Street area.  The man grabbed his arm and was making inappropriate remarks.  The boy managed to break free and run to safety.

Just after noon today, General Duty officers located and arrested a 30 year old male suspect.

The suspect is being held in custody until his first Court appearance scheduled for Friday April 11th in Prince George.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that the same man is responsible for other recent incidents in our community.

They should post all the convicted offenders names on a web site for the public.

Pictures also carpenter!

Taxi

I could see some defamation lawsuitz bein filed against that rookie cop stoppin whoever he seen.

Puff, puff, pass…

This “right to privacy” stuff has gone too far when it gives criminals more rights than the public. I too believe that when someone has been convicted, be it petty theft, assault, vehicle theft or something more serious, there should be some place for the public to see pictures of these people.
Perhaps categorized under the different offences.
The police rely on tips from the public. They see pictures of who they are looking for but for the public, all we get is a vague generic description. How about bus drivers who get assaulted? Are pictures of these people circulated among the rest of the bus drivers? No. Who are they supposed to look out for then, as a way of self protection? Same with taxi drivers or store merchants, when known shoplifters’ pictures are not circulated?
The general public needs this information and by all means should have access to it.

only sex offenders should have their picture in the public, along with their address and place of employment because it is a public safety issue. but where do you stop should we post pics of that poor person who steals a loaf of bread to feed their kid, so they can never get a job what about people who text while driving? yeah public shaming can have an impact but when we label someone people live up to that label and no longer have room to change, to maybe become a better person to get a job?! poverty is the number 1 cause of crime, why not work on the root cause? end poverty end most crime

Further to that, this couple in Maple Ridge have their names and pictures shown on the CBC. They are rent non-payers. Yet violent criminal suspects don’t have their pictures displayed???

Who cares what the cop did, as long as he caught the creep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can thank Pierre Trudeau and the charter of rights for all the issues with publication bans on criminals and criminals with more rights than average joes….
