Suspicious House Fires in Kitimat
Kitimat, B.C. – RCMP suspect arson after a couple of early-morning house fires in Kitimat.
Fire fighters were called out Saturday morning at 5:52 when flames broke out at a Kechika Street carport and quickly spread to the rest of the home. The residents were able to escape without injury, but the single story home sustained major damage.
RCMP say the second fire broke out at 6:06 on Bayer Street forcing some of the fire crews from the original call to head to the new scene. Firefighters found a vehicle on fire in the garage of the two-story home. Damage was contained to the garage and the living quarter up above it.
There were no injuries.
Kitimat Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Phil Harrison added, “The Kitimat Fire Department did an incredible job in containing both fires.”
The cause of the fires has not been determined.
