Happy Easter

Premier Christy Clark offers this Easter greetings:
"This weekend, many British Columbians throughout the province will celebrate Easter, which commemorates the promised resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after His crucifixion.
"Many believe Easter is a solemn time for reflection and renewal of faith. But no matter what you believe, Easter weekend is an opportunity to spend more time with your loved ones.
"I wish all British Columbians a happy Easter weekend."

So much for separating church and state.
The Canadian Constitution Act, 1982.
Starts with the words: “Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law”
I think that if you wish to argue the separation of Church and State in Canada, you have to start with those words ….
Shoulda had a Easter egg hunt for little kids at our city hall. Just like they do at the White House. Might help the incumbents get re=elected. Too late now.
Gus, I’m not arguing the separation of church and state; I hold the benefits to be self-evident. I was merely making an observation that Clark appears unaware of the concept.
Yes, that “supremacy of God” nonsense are part of the preamble of the Constitution Act, of 1982 and Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, even though there is no need for a preamble to these documents and which actually contradict the intention of some of the tenets of the Canadian Charter, chiefly, freedom of conscience. I have a right to reject religion and speak against it and that is enshrined in the Charter, making the preamble a hallow superfluity to me and it should be stricken from the documents altogether. That antiquated type of thinking has no business in documents of such importance and I for one find it embarrassing that the powers that be were pressured into adding it and in doing so have placed a stain on the escutcheon on our democracy.
The British North America Act had no reference to a “God.” Which ought to tell you what direction we’re heading in as a free and democratic society. A democratic society necessarily requires the separation of church and state. I look forward to a day when religion is only protected, but absolutely purged from governmental affairs and policy. Hopefully, I get to see it in my lifetime.
@sine nomine I agree fully . The supremacy of god should be changed to the supremacy of gravity and the sun as we owe our very existence to both . no one can argue the existence of either unlike the invisible man in the sky brought to us by the big book of Jewish fairy tales .
Uhh… Happy Easter everyone!
An agnostic is a guy who says he doesn’t know and is proud of it.
That’s funny harbinger . Like sleep is death without the commitment .
I think I’m going to march into my employer’s office and say that I don’t recognize religion or its belief system… right after this long weekend.
Marching into a church and announcing you don’t recognize religion or its belief system would impress us more.
Inserting religious beliefs into our politics is something I do not approve of. Christian Conservatives pressing for and getting an “Office of Religion” is a waste of time and our tax dollars.
Keep religion in church, or at home, and there won’t be any problems, faith based politics is becoming a problem, IMO.

Is that better? For those overly sensitive I have revamped the message free of charge!
Happy Easter Weekend!
Peeps: “Keep religion in church, or at home, and there won’t be any problems,”
I know you don’t work, but for the people who do, are you saying that days off for Christmas and Easter should be banned because they are faith-based holidays?
Right on JohnnyBelt. :)
Just change Christmas and Easter to “Family Days”. Works for me… but keep New Years and the other holidays because they are not faith based!
Maybe we should make Halloween a holiday . . . you know, keep the Wiccans happy . . .
Try as I might to remain a man of tolerance, when it comes to religion, well, I just can’t . . .
