Monday, April 21, 2014 @ 3:54 AM

Prince George, BC — Artists from all over Northern B.C. are  invited to  submit  original work  to be used as commemorative VIP gifts during the  Canada Winter Games.

Hundreds of dignitaries will be coming to Prince George , and commemorative gifts will be given to those VIPs  over the course of the 18 days.

The 2015 Canada Winter Games is looking for original pieces from northern BC artists to provide to hundreds of special guests in their VIP packages.

‘‘The VIP gifting program is an important opportunity to share our uniquely northern art and culture with visitors from across Canada at the 2015 Canada Winter Games,’’ says Stuart Ballantyne, CEO of the 2015 Canada Winter Games. ‘‘It’s an integral part of telling the northern story.’’

There are two  stages to the  selection process

1. Submissions must be photographed and emailed to kjeffery@canadagames2015.ca for review by the 2015 Canada Winter Games’ VIP Gifting Working Group. The deadline for submission is May 9, 2014. Artists are asked to email a separate photo submission for every commemorative gift they wish the 2015 Games to consider. Those interested in participating should include in their photo submission:

  • an artist bio, CV and artist statement
  • the cost per item of commemorative gift (with pricing for bulk quantities, if applicable)
  • photos of the commemorative gift submission:
  • Up to three (3) images per submission
  • High resolution images in jpeg. format only

2.Short-listed artists will be asked to submit physical samples of their proposed commemorative gift for review by the 2015 Canada Winter Games’ VIP Gifting Working Group. They will be contacted directly or these samples.

‘‘The amount of talented artists we have in northern BC is staggering,’’ says Wendy Young, Executive Director, Community Arts Council. ‘‘The Community Arts Council has hundreds of members and we are thrilled to help promote the VIP Gifting Program for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.’’

Now I get it it’s not about the athlete’s.

Somebody have to “draw” you a picture?

Would a Nike runner covered with glued on macaroni elbows then sprayed with gold paint mounted on a little pine beetle blue board qualify? If so, I’ll get right on it. Price? We can negotiate.

Its a Wonderful world. You have my vote Harb.
Cheers
