Former Mayor Leaves a Parting Message
Prince George, B.C. – As reported earlier this week by 250 News, former Prince George Mayor Dan Rogers is leaving the city and moving to the north Okanagan.
Rogers says that following a thorough search of the local employment market he has decided to take up the position of General Manager of the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce. He’s spending this Easter weekend packing and then heading out on the road to Vernon, where he spends his first day on the new job next Tuesday.
Rogers, or “Danno” as friends and co-workers referred to him, made his debut at a local broadcasting outfit about three weeks prior to this reporter in August 1983 and kept the city’s population informed about the goings-on in the world of sport. Interspersed between his media job and political positions as both mayor and a councilor in the city, Rogers has been involved in several volunteer and professional ventures including running his own communication and marketing consulting business.
The City’s 20th mayor (of the total 21 who have served from 1915 to the present)) says “when I look back at the last thirty years there is lots to be proud of, from helping lead the drive in the early 90’s to build the Multiplex (now CN Centre) and Aquatic Centre to most recently co-chairing the bid committee that won the rights for the 2015 Canada Winter Games. Despite those accomplishments though, it’s not the projects or buildings that I will miss the most but rather the many friends and energetic people who I have gotten to know over those years. They have supported, encouraged and inspired me and I will try hard to stay in touch.”

Sad to see you go Dan Rogers.
Dan Rogers is a class act. It is a sad day in Mr Rogers neighborhood. Dan has ethics, he’s transparent and passionate about PG and proved that so many times.
Our loss is Vernon’s gain.
Dan, his dynamite wife Linda and daughters will ALL be missed.
Very well said opinionated. Best wishes Dan and Family. :)
Our loss and Vernon’s gain! Shucks!
Can’t blame him for wanting to move down there. Much nicer than here.
Dan Rogers is a class act who remembered that we have two ears, two eyes and one mouth for a reason. As mayor I didn’t always agree with his reasoning or decisions but I knew that he listened, and weighed the information to make an informed one. He represented PG with a positive image.
I was half hoping he would run again, shucks. He put up with a backstabbing and venomous laden opposing campaign team IMO, that changed politics in Prince George, leaving a sour yet oily taste in everyone’s mouth. Not just my opinion, in my opinion.
Best wishes to the Rogers family as they head off to ‘greener’ pastures.
Take care Dan! Don’t be a stranger up here! We’ll miss you.
Well, Dan Rogers had a long distinguished career in local municipal politics. I just don’t see him rolling over and running from politics after he had a run in with Green. He will run for office again, just not in PG, and who could blame him after the last election.
His job in Vernon looks transitional to me. Gets to press the flesh with the business community in those parts. Maybe run for provincial politics as a thoughtful candidate something of which both parties are currently in short supply. But my guess is he resurfaces in 2015 as a possible liberal candidate in the federal election. PG votes the incumbent provincially and federally with fanatic loyalty even for a politicians that live over 500km from the city (as in our two federal MP’s).
So my bet is he resurfaces as a possible MP from a North Okanogan riding, so long as its one thats in play.
