One Man in Custody in Clearwater Incident
Clearwater, B.C.- One man is in custody following a homicide in Clearwater B.C. yesterday.
RCMP are saying very little other than Clearwater RCMP attended to a residence in the community on highway 5 yesterday morning to check on the well being of the resident.
When Police arrived at the Stegg Road home, they found the body of a woman. Her three children were missing. This death is being treated as a homicide and is currently being investigated by the South East District RCMP Major Crime Unit.
Significant regional RCMP resources were immediately deployed to support the Clearwater Detachment in its response to this homicide scene and the active pursuit of the missing children and suspect. This response included the Emergency Response Team, Major Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Services, Police Dog Services and an RCMP Air Services helicopter.
Later Monday afternoon, an adult male suspect was taken into custody without incident at a residence in Clearwater in relation to this homicide investigation. He is expected to appear before a Judge or Justice of the Peace later today. Prior to this appearance and the formal laying of charges, his identity will not be released.
The three children involved in this case were located at the same residence where this arrest occurred and safely removed by RCMP Emergency Response Team members.
The children were not physically harmed during this incident.
As this investigation remains very active and ongoing, police will not be releasing any other details will be released at this time
