Beesley Leaving City Hall
Prince George, B.C.- 250News has learned Andy Beesley is leaving his post with the City of Prince George.
Recently named “Associate Director of Recreation and Cultural Services” Beesley says he is leaving his job with the City to move into the private sector. “An opportunity has presented itself, and I have decided to take it. I am looking forward to the next chapter.”
Beesley was named Prince George’s Citizen of the Year last October, an honour bestowed annually on the person deemed to have made significant contributions to the community.
He won’t say who his new employer will be, but 250News points out that Beesley’s love of hockey is well documented. He has been the Manager of the Cariboo Cougars Major Midget hockey team for six years, managed several BC Hockey Best Ever teams and he was the Volunteer Chair of the U-16 BC Provincial Hockey Championship in Prince George. With that kind of background, it would not be a stretch of the imagination to suspect he may have a role with the Prince George Cougars new ownership team.
His last day at the City of Prince George is May 2nd.

Best of luck in the future Andy!

That’s a subtle hint if I’ve ever seen it. ;-)
A big loss to the City. The rec department does some great stuff and has always been great to work with.
Wow, I hope rumours are true. Good luck with your future employers, whoever they are.
Another one bites the dust,,,,just not the one we all want.
Andy Beesley is a class act and whoever scoops him up is very smart. Another loss for PG.
Another loss for PG?
If the new employer is as speculated and he can increase the spectator participation at games then he and the team may have a longer stay in PG than expected.
I just hope this doesn’t trigger more severance payouts.
On a related note the Harper government has paid out an astonishing $2 Billion in severance payouts in the last couple of years. Massive costs for the politicizing of the public service and transitioning the public service to private contractors that often gets overlooked as a cost of running government. Completely unacceptable IMO… the hidden cost for voting for Harper neo-conservatism.
He is a relatively new employee, left on his own accord, the only thing an employee who leaves on his own accord is entitled to is a payout of vacation not taken and any other such outstanding credits.
So, I wonder who is next in line to take over that department at City Hall if they are looking for an internal candidate, or whether they will go outside, or leave the position vacant for a while.
Good on ya Andy. I know he is a class person so he would never say anything about the control and bullying that goes on from the senior people in city hall. With the toxic atmosphere there, it is a wonder that any one would stay there in the current reign of error.
